We are an established and successful General Contractor seeking a Project Engineer for our ground up and tenant improvement projects in the Lake Tahoe Area!

The Project Engineer supports the Project Manager in coordinating and executing construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to quality standards. This role bridges the gap between field operations and office administration, providing critical support in managing project documentation, scheduling, cost controls, and communication with stakeholders. The Project Engineer plays a vital role in driving project efficiency and serves as a stepping stone to a Project Manager role.
Key Responsibilities
  • Project Coordination
    • Assist the Project Manager in planning, scheduling, and monitoring project progress.
    • Ensure smooth communication between stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
    • Act as a liaison between field teams and office staff to address project needs and resolve issues.
  • Documentation & Reporting
    • Prepare, manage, and update project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and meeting minutes.
    • Track and maintain project logs, such as material delivery schedules and submittal approvals.
    • Generate regular status reports for the Project Manager and stakeholders.
  • Budget & Cost Control
    • Assist in tracking project budgets and costs, flagging potential overruns.
    • Support the preparation and review of invoices, purchase orders, and subcontractor payments.
    • Participate in value engineering efforts to optimize project costs.
  • Field Support
    • Conduct site visits to monitor progress, ensure compliance with plans, and support quality control efforts.
    • Help resolve on-site challenges by coordinating with field supervisors and subcontractors.
    • Maintain safety protocols by collaborating with field staff and ensuring adherence to OSHA and company standards.
  • Procurement & Vendor Management
    • Coordinate material procurement to align with project schedules.
    • Assist in evaluating vendor and subcontractor performance.
    • Ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Qualifications
    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
    • Experience: 1 or more years of experience in construction or a similar role; experience as an Assistant Project Manager or Project Engineer
    • Experience with Bluebeam and/or Procore preferred but not required

    Compensation:

    • 90-100K base salary
