Hill International is seeking a Project Executive in Phoenix, Arizona

This position effectively manages all new construction and major renovation projects for one or more facilities, likely to be $100-$250 million or more in magnitude (single project or as a program) and supervises other project management staff accomplishing other, ongoing projects.

Works closely with hospital leadership teams to evaluate and prioritize projects, directs the performance of design and construction teams, tracks project costs and schedules to achieve project budget and timelines, and mitigates risk through assessment of performed work assuring compliance with quality, scope, safety and regulatory requirements. Coordinates and assigns system and facility resources to assure achievement of system priorities and facility project goals. Also provides general support to the system for the development and implementation of system wide means, methods, practices, and systems for Design and Construction.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership for very large, complicated projects directing the performance of project staff, architect and contractor team activities.
  • Leads Owner, Architect, and Contractor meetings. Reviews, arranges, and approves system and facility resources needed to achieve project goals including other project management resources, information technology, furniture, equipment resources.
  • Serves as principal facilities design and construction advisor to hospital leadership and leads process with user groups and Facilities Services managers to ensure user needs are identified and met.
  • Establishes positive relationships with all government review agencies, state and local.
  • Prepares and evaluates project cost estimates, budgets, schedules and various other project management information for all major projects.
  • Reviews bid packages and design documents and specifications to assure scope and quality are accurately defined.
  • Evaluates and manages pay applications and change orders during construction phase. Ensures project documents and archival process is accomplished.
  • Approves payment applications up to $1 million for projects.
  • Participates as part of the leadership of system Design and Construction team efforts including defining team member roles and responsibilities, contractor and vendor standardization and selection, development of templates, practice/procedures, and tool implementation.
  • Supports team processes and decisions and adheres to system standards and protocols.
  • Participates in team's learning by sharing knowledge in areas of expertise.
  • Mitigates project risk by anticipating and identifying potential project issues including site logistics, disruptions to operations, existing conditions and maintenance concerns.
  • Ensures appropriate level of independent testing and inspection of materials and conditions.
  • Minimizes construction impact to allow facilities to operate at a high level of efficiency.
  • Participates in life cycle analysis and leads decision process to validate best course of action for project scopes.
  • Ensures that Banner Health receives full value for the services and products it purchases through the design and construction process.
  • Oversees projects to assure compliance with all life safety, building code and regulatory requirements.
  • Participates in contractor safety meetings and education.
  • Conducts periodic site walks to identify and minimize risk factors.
  • Ensures project documents and work performance comply with all known regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinates site visits and inspections by governmental agencies. Prepares action plans to correct all deficiencies.
  • Develops, conducts training, and helps implement means, methods, and practices to be used system wide. Backs up the System VP by serving as a resource to other Project Executives and Project Managers who have questions or issues.
  • Provides construction leadership to multiple Banner facilities. Project work scope will typically be $250m - $400m in aggregate.
  • Interfaces with hospital CEOs and leadership teams, physicians, department directors, user groups, community members, city inspectors and other government officials.
  • Directs the performance of architects, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, vendors and other consultants.
  • Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.
  • Provides all customers of Banner Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each day.
  • Needs adequate visual acuity, ability to grasp and handle objects.
  • May require off-site travel.


Qualifications

  • Must possess a strong knowledge of architecture, construction, and/or engineering as normally demonstrated through the completion of a bachelor's degree in architecture, construction management, engineering or related field.
  • Master's degree preferred. Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
  • Some facilities or departments, depending on business need, may require proof of a valid driver's license and eligibility for coverage under the company auto insurance policy.
  • Ten years of progressive project management experience preferably in healthcare related construction.
  • Must have proven experience directing and overseeing multiple resources and large-scale projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications and related contract regulatory documents.
  • Must possess a thorough working knowledge of building codes, materials and standards and project tracking tools.
  • Must be able to compute job costs, prepare and monitor project budgets and schedules, as well as use and interpret typical contracts and agreements.
  • Requires strong written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills to motivate team performance.
  • Must be able to schedule and manage diverse resources and provide meaningful feedback to various constituents.
  • Requires ability listen, negotiate, and resolve conflicts.
  • Must be able to work independently and effectively align resources to achieve system goals.
  • Must exercise independent judgment and be able to maintain confidential information.
