JOB OVERVIEW:
The Director of Multilingual Services empowers students and staff by overseeing the district's Multilingual programming and initiatives. The Director ensures equity in access to a quality, guaranteed and viable curriculum for all students.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Illinois Professional Educator License Required
  • Administrative Endorsement Required
  • Bilingual Endorsement Required (Spanish)
  • 5 years of successful teaching experience in ESL, Bilingual, Dual Language, or World Language
  • 3-5 years of successful prior administrative experience at the school or district level with a proven track record of strong leadership and effective decision making
  • Ideal candidate has background in:
    • Curriculum development
    • Effective instructional strategies and assessment for students of all backgrounds
    • Staff development
    • Program evaluation
    • Grant writing
    • Data driven decision making using state and local assessment data


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Directs the development and implementation of the district's Multilingual and Dual Language programs
  • Manages the entry screening and annual assessment of students who are multilingual
  • Approaches professional work and decision making through the lens of equity and with an absolute commitment to ensuring necessary resources and supports promoting student growth and learning are provided
  • Relies on evidence and data to support effective decision making
  • Works in active collaboration with all stakeholders to ensure equity in access to grade-level standards
  • Writes and monitors state and federal grants for Multilingual Learners
  • Directs the development and implementation of quality assessment programs to provide evidence of program effectiveness and student learning.
  • Assists building administrators with recruiting, hiring, retention, and evaluation of Multilingual teachers
  • Supports the use of evidence based pedagogy and instructional practices in classrooms to support the learning, growth, and success of all students
  • Supports building principals in ensuring the consistent and successful implementation of language programming and school improvement goals
  • Works in collaboration with district administrators and school principals to determine professional development needs and ensure the successful implementation of high quality professional development
  • Ensures ongoing vertical and horizontal articulation of the curriculum including with High School District 127
  • Remains current in best practices in the leadership and development of curriculum, instruction, and assessment
  • Facilitates meetings with the district's Multilingual Parent Advisory Committee (MPAC)
  • Actively participates on a variety of district level committees
  • Serves as a member of Superintendent's Cabinet, and collaborates with other Cabinet members to support district initiatives
  • Develops strategies to ensure the highest level of efficiency and quality of district programs
  • Attends school board meetings, providing information and clarification of issues when necessary
  • Creates opportunities for ongoing dialogue with building administrators and staff to support district initiatives
  • Performs other duties as assigned
