The Opportunity:

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Supervisor of Tailings Research & Reporting, you will collaborate with Canadian Natural's mine operations and mine technical teams. You will also have a role in supporting other business unit projects by providing technical and operational support.
- Job location: Calgary, Alberta head office with intermittent travel to Horizon Oil Sands site
- Shift schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off - 8 hours/shift (Monday - Friday)
- Safety sensitive position: Yes

Key Accountabilities:
- Data management, quality control and assurance, and database management
- Support and progress the understanding of tailings deposits (physical and biogeochemical) and aid in development of technical forecast models
- Development of technical recommendations based on results
- Develop and manage projects within scope and cost constraints and communicate scope, schedules and results to colleagues, management, and, as needed, to regulatory authorities and stakeholders
- Preparation of regulatory applications, reports and presentations
What You Bring to the Role:
- Degree in civil / geological / mining / process engineering or environmental science from an accredited university program
- Registration with APEGA or other professional organization, or eligibility to register
- 8+ years of tailings experience is preferred; however, less experienced candidates would also be considered if experience and skillsets align closely to role functions and responsibilities
- Experience with data management and report writing skills are an asset
- Experience with interpreting environmental datasets are an asset
- Strong time management, interpersonal and communication skills
