The Director Nurse Practitioner has primary responsibility for the oversight and management of NPs on the medical unit and will support and advocate for advance practice providers and role development across Franciscan Children's. The director will also partner with the medical unit leadership to propose and implement practices that will expand the size and scope of the medical program and deepen the affiliation with Boston Children's. The role requires the synthesis of expert clinical skills, management knowledge, and strategic planning to advance the practice of NPs on the medical unit and advance the medical rehabilitation program.
1. Provides direct leadership, supervision, and management of Medical APRNs.
2. Develops, implements, and evaluates strategic advanced practice nursing processes within the medical inpatient program, consistent with the mission, values, and goals of Franciscan Children's.
3. Works collaboratively with senior nursing, physician leadership, and advanced practice nursing leadership to ensure APRN role meets the clinical needs and competencies for care of medical patients.
4. Develops and implements equitable criteria and processes for selection, evaluation, promotion, and termination of medical program APRN staff that meet system standards.
5. Ensures delivery of high-quality patient care for medical patients.
6. Oversees quality and cost outcomes within Medical Program APRN practice.
7. This role will maintain 50% time clinical practice, with direct care responsibilities as listed in the job description of the Nurse Practitioner.
8. Functions as an advocate for advanced practice nursing and promotes clarity of the advanced practice nursing role within the organization.
9. Evaluates budgets, administrative strategies, and information systems in support of clinical programs.
10. Identifies and facilitates professional development and advancement for Advanced Practice Nurses within the organization.
11. Creates an environment that fosters excellence, sensitivity, and leadership.
12. Complies with regulatory compliance with standards, laws, and requirements of requisite agencies.
Required: 7 years APRN experience. Management experience.
Preferred Work: Leadership and management experience in a complex clinical setting is preferred. Pediatric advanced practice nursing leadership experience preferred. Experience working with children with complex special health care needs preferred.
