Job Title: Radiologic Technologist
Job Specialty: Computed Tomography
Job Duration: Contract, 13 weeks with possible extension
Shift: Night - 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM, with call every other weekend
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: Minimum required
License: Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT)
Certifications: BLS, Advanced Registry in Computed Tomography (CT)
Must-Have: Excellent customer service skills, flexibility, teamwork initiative
Job Description:
- Specializes in performing computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients; may also conduct general diagnostic radiology examinations.
- Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares them for the examination.
- Reviews clinical data on requisition forms and performs the appropriate examination.
- Gathers additional patient medical history information as necessary.
- Prepares procedure rooms and regularly replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies.
- Analyzes the anatomical structure of the patient, sets up equipment, and performs CT scans.
- Manually controls the equipment to obtain necessary diagnostic information.
- Administers intravenous contrast media, monitors for possible reactions, and provides immediate care if necessary.
- Prepares and sets up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for procedures.
- Assists radiologists in performing complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies.
- Performs imaging procedures with a focus on radiation protection and ALARA techniques.
- Resolves image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into PACS.
- Completes study indexing within the Radiology Information System (RIS).
- Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with radiologists when necessary.
- Demonstrates consistent excellence in teamwork, communication, and patient interaction.
- Completes all necessary documentation in medical records and the radiology information system.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
- Work may occur in various settings with potential exposure to radiation if proper precautions are not utilized.
- May be exposed to high-voltage equipment and potentially contagious patients.
- Occasionally may lift and/or move equipment or patients in excess of 10 lbs.
Required Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required
