Summary
This position plays a critical role in supporting all aspects of the financial and fund reporting and support needs of Community Relations and the various financial instruments used to manage its operations. The work requires advanced knowledge gained from a prolonged course of specialized instruction, experience, and expertise. The position includes work requiring the consistent exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
Scope
This position performs complex financial procedures, prepares financial plans and reports on a periodic and ad hoc basis. This position is also responsible for coordinating all financial transactions, ensuring that proper accounting, due diligence and compliance protocols are adhered to, and for leading the annual audit processes. This requires an understanding of the business environment, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles for corporations and nonprofits, including private foundations, and of Community Relations operations. This role provides the key linkage between Community Relations and the planning process, and actively contributes to the control of the function.
Basic Job Requirements
Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in general accounting and six (6) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to ten (10) years if non-degreed
Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, visitors and volunteers
Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
Ability to stay apprised of and effectively apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
Perform and apply financial analysis techniques including, but not limited to variance analysis, statistical analysis, scenario analysis, financial and cash flow modeling, etc., to projects, budgets, funds and decisions as requested by management
Develop, establish and continuously improve financial procedures in partnership with other internal stakeholders to ensure sound fiscal management of the full scope of Community Relations operations in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and other benchmark standards as appropriate.
Analyze and document complex work processes and promote improvement (quality and efficiency) through root cause analysis and process improvement justification
Provide functional guidance regularly to staff, portfolio assigned liaisons and volunteers to ensure adherence to established procedures and compliance protocols, and instruction as to how to utilize the department grant management platform
Respond to questions regarding finance and accounting issues by possessing an advanced understanding of finance and accounting activities and the transactions that form the basis of financial results
Prepare and present financial information in appropriate format for internal and external stakeholders. Includes collecting, reconciling and auditing appropriate support and documentation for use in monthly, quarterly and year-end close, planning and budget process and the annual audit and tax reporting process for the Fluor Foundation and other entities as required.
Execute all financial transactions necessary for Community Relations operations, including journal entries, financial accruals, bank transactions and payment processing in accordance with established procedures
Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines
Plan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management staff
Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards
Adhere to and support Fluor's Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability Policies
Effectively develop and apply the Core Skills to the job
May need to travel to attend to business related matters
Meet expectations on attendance and punctuality

Preferred Qualifications
Six (6) years of related finance or equivalent business experience with a proven track record of success
Experience in a nonprofit environment is beneficial
Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrated basic leadership and decision-making skills
Ability to deliver timely and accurate information
Ability to interact and build rapport with peers and operational management
Proficiency in the use of a global enterprise resource planning (ERP) system such as SAP beneficial
Highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access and other personal computer applications
Proficiency in Benevity Spark (employee giving and volunteering) and Versaic grant making platforms or other similar platforms beneficial
Cross-functional experience working on a project
