Why does the job exist?
The NM Behavioral Health Institute (NMBHI) campus consists of 1.4M square feet of various buildings on 300+ acres. The facility has 5 programs consisting of Specialty Hospital, Long Term Care, and Residential Care. Incumbent will provide leadership and management and will have responsibility for ensuring the success of the overall operations of the facility and campus. The incumbent will work directly with the Executive Director to ensure that all areas of operations are providing a safe environment for patients and employees, with in applicable codes, and following all licensing and accreditation requirements. The position also provides compensation for being on call and may be eligible for housing on site.
How does it get done?
Incumbent is responsible for managing all aspects of operations and budgets for the facility and, specifically including but not limited to capital projects, dietary, housekeeping, medical records, maintenance, staff development, security, and human resources. The position directly supervises assigned staff and indirectly all staff at the NMBHI.
Who are the customers?
Incumbent is responsible for managing and directly supervising assigned staff and indirectly all staff at the NMBHI including contractors. Will be responsible for all communication, public relations, lobbying for funds/capital projects, board meetings, reporting requirements as defined through directives from DOH Senior Management and Facilities Management.
Ideal Candidate
Ideal candidate will have:
--Experience with hospital/facility management;
--Experience with managing operations and maintenance budgets;
--Experience implementing policies procedures and competency;
--Experience supervising multiple departments;
--Experience in compliance of local, state, federal, hospital, and Joint Commission codes and standards.
Minimum Qualification
A Master's degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and eight (8) years of professional level experience with a strategic impact directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling fourteen (14) years may substitute for the required education and experience. A hiring agency will designate a portion of the required experience to include management and/or specialized experience. Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements.

Working Conditions
This position will perform work in a hospital and office setting with exposure to Visual /Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Exposure to mentally and behaviorally challenged residents who may exhibit unpredictable and sometimes violent behaviors in volatile situations required. Effective 01/01/2015, New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute became a 100% Tobacco Free/ E-Cigarette Free Campus. As such, no tobacco, tobacco products or E-cigarette products are permitted on any part of the campus. Department is Administration. Work hours are 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, with on-call requirements.
