The purpose of this role is to act as a leader with full people management responsibilities over an HR team assigned to support HR core/essential work for Seminaries and Institutes of Religion (S&I). Employees at this level work with a high degree of latitude, have expert knowledge, and handle the most complex issues and problems. This role reports to the Director of HR for Seminaries and Institutes with frequent partnership with workforce and department leaders, department HR team, and COEs. This role will assist administrators in accomplishing the Objective of Seminaries and Institutes by leading a team of HR professionals to meet the goals and initiatives of the organization.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the following activities:
Provide people leadership and development for a team of 5-7 HR professionals
Provide consultative leadership support to S&I leadership
Provide executive secretary support to S&I administrators by coordinating decisions, efforts and meetings within the S&I talent council (Placement Council)
Provide sound data analysis and experienced strategic thinking to S&I projects that impact global decisions
Provide support and resolution for escalated HR needs or incidents from the HR team
Administer the S&I non-qualified early retirement incentive program in compliance with the plan document and US laws
Resolve high-level technical and process issues to ensure all systems are accurate and working correctly
Represent S&I in collaborative meetings with other Church departments and DMBA (benefit administrators)
Accountable to deliver the following essential activities for S&I through the essential work team:
Interpret, administer, and implement HR Policy/guiding principles
Administer HR policy administration and support
Coach regarding compensation decisions, especially in hiring and relocating employees
May provide support to workforce relations efforts and help resolve disputes
Lead benefit and compensation analysis, proposals, approval requests, and merit increases processes
Resolve compensation and benefit issues
Administer promotion and in-line adjustment review and approval processes
Support reduction in force (RIF) efforts
Oversee talent acquisition processes and efforts through posting jobs, processing offer letters, checking applicant temple worthiness, and assisting in onboarding and provisioning efforts
Oversee all data management needs, including report generation, data auditing and tracking, etc.
Support position management needs through creating, updating, and tracking positions
Oversee position/budget tracking efforts (FTE reconciliation)
Oversee employee record management through submitting transactions such as promotions, assignment changes, transfers, compensation adjustments, etc.
Oversee offboarding processes by administering exit surveys, coordinating exit checklist items, etc.
Support essential Service Mission Office responsibilities
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in a related field
8 years industry-related experience
Deep HR operational knowledge
Sound understanding of compensation principles
Understanding of other HR functions and best practices
Key skills and core competencies include the ability to:
o Lead an HR Team
o Build relationships
o Consult with S&I leaders and understand the Objective of S&I
o Deliver excellent customer service
o Coach and develop employees
o Problem solve and provide effective solutions
o Lead and implement organizational change
o Communicate effectively in writing and verbally through influence and compromise
o Resolve employee relations issues
o Understand and analyze S&I data
o Proven track record in managing complex data sets
Preferred:
Master's degree in a related field
Previous people management experience
HR certification
To successfully perform the essential functions of the job there may be physical requirements which need to be met such as sitting for extended periods of time and using computer monitors/equipment.
