Job Title: Physical Therapist

Job Specialty: General Physical Therapy

Job Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: 8-hour day shift (Days-0800-1700, 5x8 Hr)

Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Experience: Previous work experience providing direct patient care in outpatient, inpatient, or inpatient rehab unit preferred. Prior use of electronic medical records (EMR) preferred.

License: Physical Therapist license in the state of employment or from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact.

Certifications: Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association Required.

Job Description:

- Responsible for providing care to patients with neuromuscular, orthopedic, and other physically-related disorders requiring mobility training, strengthening, modalities, specialized manual therapy, and neuromuscular re-education.
- Utilize the rehab process to promote and restore optimal health and well-being of the patient.
- Assume personal accountability for organizational mission and core values.
- Evaluate patients by completing initial evaluations within time standards per department protocol.
- Apply appropriate diagnostic and prognostic testing for musculoskeletal, neurological, and neuromuscular conditions.
- Perform a variety of best practice and evidence-based therapeutic interventions to address the unique rehabilitation needs of each patient.
- Establish appropriate treatment plans with measurable and attainable goals and time frames by collaborating with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team, including discharge planning.
- Select and implement therapy activities per plan of care to ensure that patient, family, and therapy goals are met.
- Recognize individual limitations and capabilities and utilize available resources.
- Evaluate patients' learning styles and appropriately teach them skills and techniques required for participation in physical therapy.
- Consult with other members of the rehabilitation team to select the most appropriate activity and/or program for individual patients, based on needs and capabilities.
- Reassess and modify treatment plans as necessary based on patients' current level of function and make appropriate recommendations.
- Communicate effectively with all involved, respecting confidentiality at all times.
- Document all patient care activities, including evaluations, progress notes, and detailed treatment records per standards of practice and regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate the preparation of patient schedules, billing charges, and other reports per procedure through timely completion of documentation per policy.
- Participate in personal, professional, and program development by attending department in-services, meetings, and sharing professional expertise.
- Assist in training physical therapy and physical therapist assistant students and other personnel.
- Act as a resource for new staff members and co-workers by sharing information and providing education.
- Adhere to professional code of ethics and all accreditation and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrate effective time management and prioritize workload and productivity requirements.
- Adapt to rapidly changing technologies, policies, regulations, and staffing needs.
- Demonstrate flexibility by floating to other areas or sites and working a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evening hours as necessary to meet patient and department needs.
