As a Senior Electrical Engineer on the Spot electrical team, you will develop circuit boards and electrical subassemblies for Boston Dynamic's quadruped robots. You will provide technical leadership for various aspects of new product development in your area of expertise and may be tasked with leading small cross-functional technical teams to resolve critical issues or develop new modules. The ideal candidate will have a strong general electrical engineering background with an emphasis on power design. You'll love working on a fun, collaborative, and talented team to support one of the world's coolest robots.

How you will make an impact:
  • Develop (document, design, simulate, test, support) digital, power, RF, and/or mixed signal circuit boards
  • Be responsible for robot subsystems through architecture, development, and volume manufacturing
  • Oversee and/or layout circuit boards in CAD
  • Contribute to the team's knowledge of power electronics design (e.g. motor controller power stages, DC-DC power conversion, and load switches)
  • Triage, troubleshoot, and diagnose robot electrical failures to root cause
  • Author technical documentation such as specifications, schematics, test plans, and reports
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, manufacturing, compliance, and test teams
  • Lead and participate in design reviews
  • Author Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)
  • Contribute to team process development initiatives


Required Skills:
  • BS in electrical engineering, computer engineering, robotics, or closely-related field
  • 7+ years of directly related work experience
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals
  • Some experience with power electronics design
  • Familiarity with Power Integrity Simulation tools
  • Embedded computing and/or robotics systems knowledge
  • Desire and ability to lead crossfunctional subsystem design
  • Product design experience
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout software (e.g. Altium)
  • Prior experience using a PLM (e.g. Arena)


Nice to have:
  • Expertise in power electronics
  • Interest or passion for RF antenna design and/or RF module integration (e.g. communication radios, radar, antenna arrays)
  • Ability to code in C/C++, Python, and/or LabVIEW
  • Experience with Linux operating systems
  • Familiarity with the concepts of functional safety (e.g. IEC61508, ISO13849, IEC61511, and/or ISO26262)
  • Knowledge of circuit board manufacturing DfX and best practices
