MHC Healthcare is seeking a Clinical Supervisor to join the Children's Services team at the MHC Counseling and Wellness Behavioral Health Center, located in the heart of Marana, AZ.

The Children's Services Clinical Supervisor's primary responsibility is for the supervision and oversight of the Children's Team's performance in their clinical duties to ensure the needs of the clients are being met. MHC Healthcare is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC), with 14 sites in Tucson and Pima County. The following qualifications are required:
  • Master's degree in Social Services or related field
  • 2 years' experience supervising staff
  • 4 years' experience in Behavioral Health
  • Experience with Case Management
  • Licensed as an independent practitioner with AZ Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or LISAC ) or as a Psychologist by the AZ Board of Psychologist Examiners
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • First Aid certification (may be completed with MHC upon hire)
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Current Arizona driver's license with clean driving record and proof of current vehicle insurance (39-month MVR will be run by MHC)

The following qualifications are preferred:
  • Experience with the State Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA), AHCCCS Complete Care (ACC) health plans, and community resources
  • Experience with the Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS)

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if applicable and must be directly related to the functions and body of knowledge required to successfully perform the job.

This position has the following supervisory responsibility:
  • Supervises and monitors performance for an assigned group of employees. Supervisory duties include providing input on hiring and disciplinary actions, overseeing work assignments and quality, scheduling and timekeeping, performance evaluations, and training and development.

The ideal candidate will also possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Knowledge of State, RBHA, ACC, DCS requirements and MHC policies.
  • Thorough knowledge of current versions of DSM and ICD.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervises the Children's Team to ensure quality of care standards are met in direct services, documentation, and resolution of client issues.
  • Oversees the team members' awareness, adherence, and training of system and paperwork requirements to ensure completion of accurate and timely documentation.
  • Provides appropriate documented supervision for each non-independently licensed team member on consistent basis in accordance with state and agency regulation and policy.
  • Maintains a caseload that is manageable but allows for maintenance of supervisory responsibilities regarding programs, staff, and clients.
  • Provides direct client services consisting of therapeutic services to individuals, groups, and/or family members, ensuring that contact and documentation is maintained according to guidelines.
  • Participates in Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings as requested or appropriate.
  • Provides, supervises, or assesses office, school, and home-based services, including crisis intervention.
  • Ensures clients receive quality and timely assessments, treatment planning, treatment reviews, RBHA, ACC, and DCS documentation, discharge planning, and aftercare planning.
  • Accommodates client schedule when providing direct service.
  • Provides appropriate referrals to other community agencies as requested.
  • Assists team members with the navigation of the RBHA/ACC systems.
  • Assists team members with client or system needs as required, ensuring the optimal performance of the team.
  • Leads and mentors the team regarding systems issues, incident reporting, transportation issues, client complaints, and client out-of-home placements.
  • Works with Transportation Services to ensure client needs are met.
  • Provides oversight and assists Clinical Director in responding to information identified by the Data Validation audits/reports from ongoing chart audits to ensure quality care is documented in a timely and thorough manner, meeting all guidelines set forth by the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS), RBHA, and ACC.
  • Reviews weekly lag list, report cards, productivity standards, and other monthly and quarterly reports to ensure the team is meeting standards.
  • Mentors and counsels team members who are not meeting required standards.
  • Assists the Behavioral Health Quality Manager in preparation for all agency audits by reviewing charts, ensuring all direct service staff are maintaining accurate and timely client records, including monthly progress reports, service plans, RBHA and ACC documentation, timely contacts, mileage forms, and home visit logs.
  • Acts as a liaison for community agency issues, including hospitalization, utilization management, out-of-home placement, etc.
  • Works with the Clinical Director and RBHA/ACC to ensure all contract requirements are met.
  • Assesses the team's response to client crisis, including assessing crisis, ensuring incidents are documented, and appropriate action is taken.
  • Maintains collaboration with local resources, including court personnel, Marana Police Department (MPD), Sheriff's Department, ALTEC, DES, SAMHC, as well as other Tucson agencies and institutions such as (but not limited to) hospitals, the Crisis Response Center, Community Wide Crisis Line, school districts, and the Mobile Assessment Crisis (MAC) Team.
  • Works collaboratively with psychiatric staff, ensuring all appropriate clients receive medication monitoring, psychiatric evaluations, and Primary Care Provider (PCP) involvement.
  • Follows professional and ethical practices when working with clients, client records, families, and community personnel.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client/family information.
  • Works effectively with all clients and families to promote trust while providing excellent customer service within a recovery model of care.
  • Acts as a willing and effective liaison between BH and other MHC Departments, staff, and community members to promote trust, productivity, and growth as a Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model of care.
  • Utilizes appropriate channels for reporting, discussing, and solving problems or concerns.
  • Assumes responsibility for understanding guidelines and procedures for all department contracts and requests clarification when required.
  • Observes applicable state and federal laws, assumes responsibility for knowledge of laws, and requests clarification if necessary.
  • Maintains general BH and education standards and keeps abreast of BH and educational trends by reading and attending in-services and workshops as appropriate.
  • Uses appropriate incident reporting procedures when documenting unsafe or problematic incidents involving patients, clients, and staff. Completes internal and external Incident Reports accurately and follows procedures completely, ensureing the BHQ Team is actively involved.

What This Position Pays: $75,622 - $103,981
