FLSA: Salary, Exempt

COMPENSATION: $130,000- $150,000 annually

PURPOSE

The Director of Fitness Product will champion innovation, education, and the continuous improvement of fitness products, aiming to ensure VASA's fitness solutions are on-trend, accessible and approachable. This role will drive the evolution of programming and product quality to reinforce the VASA brand, both internally and externally, ensuring alignment with business priorities and growth objectives. The Director of Fitness Product will collaborate cross-functionally to create and execute a strategic product vision that enhances member engagement, satisfaction, and brand loyalty.

DELIVERABLES

The deliverables for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Lead and manage the Fitness Product team, ensuring all initiatives align with the strategic goals of the organization.
  • Drive innovation and oversee programming for all fitness products, including STUDIO and Personal Training.
  • Cultivate and manage key vendor relationships, including those related to Group Fitness, STUDIO, and Personal Training.
  • Own fitness equipment strategy and recommendations, including the equipment layout in all areas of the club.
  • Partner with Operations to develop and maintain Personal Training certification structure and Personal Trainer levels.
  • Build strong partnerships with Operations to ensure optimal product delivery and quality.
  • Work closely with Marketing to align member journeys with product launches and ensure consistency in brand storytelling as it pertains to fitness products.
  • Stay ahead of fitness industry trends, providing insights to inform product development and market positioning.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Programming
  • Oversee the maintenance and improvement of STUDIO and Group Fitness programming.
  • Manage the creation and updating of video libraries for STUDIO and Personal Training digital platform.
  • Support marketing-driven special events and leadership conferences with custom workout programming.

Equipment
  • Define club layout and equipment standards, including new club prototypes and remodel plans.
  • Regularly assess and update existing club equipment to meet quality and cost-efficiency goals.
  • Advise on value engineering opportunities for improved equipment offerings.

Product Innovation and Quality
  • Ensure the quality of STUDIO, Personal Training, and Group Fitness products while driving new product development as needed.
  • Lead field training initiatives to support product implementation and quality execution.
  • Partner with Operations to track key KPIs, supporting their efforts to meet performance goals.

Operations Collaboration and Support
  • Regularly collaborate with Regional Directors and Human Resources to address and support performance improvement needs by club.
  • Lead STUDIO Optimization team to support focus clubs and partner with Operations to ensure consistent execution across all STUDIO spaces.
  • Provide field teams with necessary tools, resources, and training to optimize product delivery and member experience.

Education Partnerships and Internal Education Resources
  • Manage relationships with education partners to secure discounts and opportunities for team development.
  • Lead the creation of training materials and content for Trainer Talk and Empower Hour monthly calls.
  • Manage hosting opportunities for in-club fitness training events.

Marketing
  • Partner with Marketing to contribute to content creation, including blogs, social media posts, and product descriptions across various channels and platforms.
  • Assist in directing fitness-related photography and video shoots to ensure alignment with brand standards.

Leadership and Team Development
  • Lead a high-performing Fitness Product team, fostering a culture of collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and support team members in their professional growth, encouraging a learning-focused environment.
  • Manage external vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective and high-quality product solutions.
  • Act as a role model and advocate for field team members.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10+ years' work experience in personal training, specialty studio, or group fitness.
  • 5+ years in a multi-unit fitness management position
  • 2+ years creating multi-unit, scalable fitness products and programming.
  • Proven track record in creating fitness education content for professional development purposes.
  • Current nationally accredited Personal Training Certification required, with Group Fitness Certification preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field preferred.
  • Exceptional understanding of current industry trends and fitness consumer behavior.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, including Executive Leadership.
  • Ability to translate strategic product concepts into actionable, scalable fitness solutions.
  • Open-minded to new approaches and ability to think outside the box to come up with winning ideas.
  • Optimistic mindset with a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude.
  • Ability to think strategically, while also being in the details of the work.
  • Strong leadership skills and proven ability to teach, coach, and communicate the why and how.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally, collaborate with diverse teams, and influence decision-making at all levels.
  • Self-motivated with a high degree of ownership, sense of urgency, and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Strong time and project management skills, with the ability to solve problems while balancing multiple priorities in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

  • Personal interest in health, wellness, fitness, and nutrition.
  • Ability to travel to VASA markets and work on weekends as needed.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS
  • Talking: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Physical Strength: Non-Sedentary work, standing and walking most of the time. Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to deal with a variety of variables under limited standardization. Able to interpret various instructions and relay instructions to clients
  • Attendance is an essential duty of the position. Employees must work regularly scheduled shifts, during business hours to assist members and sell services in-person.
