Organization's Summary Statement:
Reporting directly to the Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration, the Director of Finance is a member of the College of Arts & Humanities' (ARHU) finance and administration team. Working with senior college leadership, this position provides day-to-day management and oversight of the business operations of the Dean's Office. The Director works with the Assistant Dean to ensure overall fiscal health and sustainability in support of the college's mission, with responsibilities which include college-level budgetary management and oversight, as well as, the administration of financial operations; development and management of state, grant, and foundation budgets; identifying and analyzing fiscal trends; approving expenditures; establishing standard reporting procedures and protocols; and establishing business processes for the Dean's Office and its academic departments, school, and research centers. The college is comprised of eleven academic departments, three schools, and six research centers. The director is responsible for the management of the college's $120M operating budget as well as numerous contracts, grants, and foundation accounts.

Physical Demands:
Sedentary work in an office environment requires the ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, printers, and copiers.
Repetitive motion, including substantial movements and motions of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
Visual acuity is required to perform activities such as preparing and reviewing data, extensive reading, and viewing a computer.
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

Preferences:
Master's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience with the University System of Maryland
Experience with Workday, Finance and Adaptive Planning
Experience working with an institution of higher education
Knowledge and understanding of USM, Federal, and UMCPF policies and procedures
Experience with Priority software

Licenses/Certifications: NA

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Ten (10) years of professional accounting or finance experience. Five (5) years of experience supervising or managing professional staff.
Knowledge of finance functions including general accounting, statistical, or financial functions.
Knowledge of business acumen to understand key business drivers, organizational communications, and data.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in data analytics and negotiation.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products.
Ability to research information and analyze complex data and information to create reports and presentations.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion.
Ability to develop and administer new policies and procedures.
