  • Position Purpose
    The job of Alternative Program Principal/District 504 Coordinator is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional and 504 process with specific responsibility for directing overall site operations, services, and staff at all schools and departments; providing information and serving as a resource to others; enforcing established policies and regulatory requirements; coordinating school activities; and addressing issues, situations, and problems that arise on campus or with enrolled students.

    This job reports to the Superintendent.

    Essential Functions (Other duties may be assigned)
    • Assigns disciplinary actions to students and staff as needed for the purpose of ensuring continuity and efficiency of District educational goals while adhering to District, State, and Federal policies and regulations.
    • Chairs meetings (e.g. curriculum, safety, site advisory, special district committees, etc.) for the purpose of coordinating activities and ensuring that outcomes achieve school, district, and state objectives.
    • District 504 Coordinator responsible for ensuring compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Responsible for providing 504 plan oversight at each building/department.
    • Develops budgets and financial forecasts for the purpose of providing financial guidance and recommendations to administrative personnel, Superintendent, and governing Board.
    • Evaluates assigned personnel for the purpose of ensuring that standards are achieved and performance is maximized.
    • Facilitates communication between a variety of stakeholders (e.g. personnel, students, parents, community leaders, etc.) for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems, and resolving conflicts.
    • Implements policies, procedures, and processes (e.g. new program roll-outs, etc.) for the purpose of providing direction and complying with mandated requirements.
    • Manages school administrative functions (e.g. facility maintenance, budget, staffing, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining safe and efficient school operations within district guidelines.
    • Oversees school operations (e.g. instruction, resources, extra-curricular activities, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the smooth and effective operation of the school.
    • Prepares a wide variety of materials (e.g. quantity reports, student activities, correspondence, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and conveying information.
    • Presents information to a wide variety of individuals and groups (e.g. Superintendent, Board of Education, community groups, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information, gaining feedback, and ensuring adherence to established internal controls.
    • Represents the school within community forums (e.g. parent-teacher organizations, community visioning groups, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining ongoing community support for educational goals, and assisting with issues related to school environment.
    • Researches a variety of topics (e.g. trends in education, alternate funding sources, instructional use of technology, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining the current and efficient operation of the school.
    • Responds to inquiries from a wide range of stakeholders (e.g. Board of Education members, other Administrators, parents, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and resolving problems.
    • Supervises school personnel (e.g. teachers, custodians, staff, etc.) for the purpose of monitoring performance, moving toward termination, providing for professional growth, and achieving overall academic objectives of school.

    Experience:
    Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is preferred.

    Education:
    Master's degree in Education Leadership/Administration

    Certification Requirements:
    Administrator's Credential through PTSB
