Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP is seeking an Associate with 3-4 years of law firm experience to work with the Intellectual Property practice group in the Atlanta or San Diego office locations. We are looking to add a team member with a strong background in patent prosecution and drafting patent applications.
We cultivate exceptional attorneys across all levels by providing them with the experiences and resources needed to build successful careers! The individual will join a sophisticated practice that counsels clients in a variety of industries related to intellectual property matters. The position will include a mixture of patent application drafting, patent prosecution, and litigation/IPR work, as well as some IP counseling, diligence, and transaction work. Additionally, the attorney will have extensive interaction with a variety of clients including universities, start-ups, and other companies, to help protect their innovations.

We are seeking candidates who possess:
- Three to four years of experience in patent prosecution, including drafting original U.S. and PCT patent applications and responding to office actions.
- A bachelor or masters degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- U.S. Patent Bar registration.
- Experience working with patent firms outside the U.S. to prosecute patents globally.
- Skills and knowledge related to patent litigation and/or Inter Partes Review (IPR) proceedings in the USPTO.
- Strong academic records, developed analytical skills, and impressive communication abilities.
- Availability for a hybrid position that requires in-office presence three days per week.
- A detail-oriented approach, the ability to assume immediate responsibility for matters in an active practice, and confidence.
