TITLE: ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT OF INSTRUCTION AND STUDENT PERFORMANCE

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or a related field (Doctorate preferred).
  • Valid administrative certification/licensure as required by the state.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in educational leadership, including roles such as principal, instructional coach, or district administrator.
  • Demonstrated expertise in instructional leadership and school improvement strategies.
  • Proven ability to analyze data, implement change initiatives, and measure impact.
  • Strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education.
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of stakeholders in an education environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills.

REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools

SUPERVISES: Director of School Improvements, and Director of Learning Services


PURPOSE OF JOB: This position enhances instructional practices, analyzes student achievement, reports on effectiveness, growth, and outcomes based on various measures, supports teacher and staff development, and fosters a culture of innovation and equity. The Assistant Superintendent works collaboratively with district leaders, school administrators, and educators to develop, implement, and evaluate strategies that promote academic success and organizational effectiveness.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead district-wide efforts to improve student performance across PreK-12+ programs
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive district improvement strategy aligned with the district's strategic plan and goals
  • Guide and oversee the development of School Improvement Plans (SIP) for all schools
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of improvement programs and interventions
  • Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement with an emphasis on closing achievement gaps
  • Manage and utilize various platforms of student achievement data including local and state systems
  • Provide regular reports to the Superintendent and Board of Education on progress toward improvement goals
  • Ensure the district's equity initiatives are integrated into all aspects of school improvement work
  • Direct supervision and management of specialized district programs including Extended Learning Programs and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
  • Lead and facilitate the Supervisory Process Task Force
  • Ensure alignment of teaching practices with the Danielson Framework for Teaching
  • Support principals and instructional leaders in implementing evidence-based improvement strategies
  • Coordinate professional development initiatives aligned with district improvement goals
  • Perform other tasks and duties as requested by the supervisor


PHYSICAL CONTEXT OF THE JOB: This position works with computers and other technology devices. The position requires the ability to travel among buildings when needed.
