Working to operate and scale globally in the area of Metrology equipment management. The ideal candidate proactively identifies and solves the most complex problems that impact the management, direction, and success of the business. Candidate must be able to lead multidisciplinary programs or initiatives covering process, system, and organizational improvements.

The Director of Global Metrology is responsible for driving a centralized organization across multiple geographic regions. Responsibilities of the role include optimizing global metrology capital equipment, procurement and utilization, implementing best technical practices, and centralizing operation and business processes globally in the Metrology equipment space. The Global Metrology Leader is responsible for leading the team to work with R&D business partners to provide world class service in uptime and useability of our Metrology equipment. This position requires active cooperation with various stakeholders and ability to navigate easily in a multi-cultural and global environment. The role is responsible for integration with global universities and representing ASM in the Metrology equipment space.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maximize uptime and availability of metrology tools at ASM sites globally.
  • Investigate and drive resolution of metrology issues reported by internal customers.
  • Work with metrology equipment suppliers to ensure compliance with service contracts and define requirements on new tool purchases.
  • Utilize statistical methods such as SPC or MSA to track and maintain stability of metrology results.
  • Ensure regular calibrations of metrology tools are performed and documented, developing new calibration procedures as needed.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on metrology metrics and activities.
  • Develop annual Global Metrology capital plans, submit Capital Approval Requests to support the business.
  • Ensure OPEX (operating expense) spending is in alignment with project plans and spending targets for the Business Unit.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for lab end users and metrology team operations.
  • Participate in professional organizations and committees related to metrology.
  • Cross train personnel in the use of metrology equipment and techniques.
  • Develop and maintain centralized databases of metrology information.
  • Keep abreast of new developments in metrology.

Qualifications
  • Master's or PhD in engineering or scientific field and preferably with an MBA.
  • 15 - 20 years in Semiconductor or related industry.
  • 15+ years of hands-on experience with SAP in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity and hands on experience in operating Semiconductor Metrology equipment and managing engineers and technicians.
  • Previous experience in managing in a complex environment with globally distributed employee base.

  • Excellent executive-level written, visual, and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate technical topics to a non-technical audience.
  • Sound business acumen and exposure to strategy and long-range planning.
