$99,375 to $165,625 annually DOE

Job Summary
Design, develop, plan, and implement network modifications, upgrades and changes to our service
provider backbone and customer aggregation network. This role will also oversee network automation.
Implementation and documentation. Provide an informal leadership function within the Core Network
team and provide guidance towards standards and best practices.

- Own the core network design and standards.
- Provide informal leadership and organization to the core network team.
- Provide mentorship to Engineers and Technicians.
- Serve as a resource to the team and subject matter expert on the core network.
- Design aggregation network specifications in concert with the deployment team's implementation
needs. - Work with boundary partners to ensure high reliability end-to-end services.
- Work with systems engineering to automate as many network provisioning and turn up tasks as
possible. - Define, order, and oversee installation and integration of backbone equipment in network.
- Plan and design network elements to support projected customer traffic volumes.
- Plan and forecast peering and interconnection need targets and capacity.
- Plan and prepare detailed equipment installation specifications and drawings.
- Interface with key network partners.
- Work with DWDM engineering team to make sure capacity is provisioned as needed to ensure a
congestion free and fully protected IP network. - Ensure all site records are updated and accurate.
- Streamline and standardize implementation methods and procedures that allow for scale.
- Generate quote requests, purchase requests and RFPs.
- Attend various meetings with management, departments, and vendors to ensure company
objectives are met. - Participate in inter-departmental planning meetings to coordinate and communicate activities
related to the successful completion of projects. - Support Network Engineering, Network deployment and Service Architecture needs across the
shared backbone infrastructure. - Work closely with Network Operations personnel to hand-off newly deployed equipment and
customer services for ongoing surveillance and management. - Travel to job sites and project sites as required.
- May be required to work outside of normal business hours, including nights and weekends.
- Performs other duties as required to support the business and evolving organization.
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of telecommunications design, installation practices and principals required.
- Experience provisioning or commissioning telecommunications network elements such as
routers, switches, DSLAMs, PON, TDM, VOIP, DWDM required. - Experience with BGP/OSFP and MPLS LDP/TE required.
- Experience with various equipment assets and circuit inventory systems required.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical documents such as vendor deployment guidelines,
white papers, and configuration manuals. - Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills are required.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize.
- Ability to operate various office equipment such as personal computer, various software programs
including Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Visio), and telephone systems.

- Ability to communicate with customers, vendors, etc. in a courteous and professional manner.
