The salary range for this role is $150,000-$180,000.

Role Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting and Managerial Accounting
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP and work closely with the School's auditors
- Responsible for general ledger maintenance and analysis - work closely with Controller and the Budget team to prepare various financial analyses, forecasts and reconciliations.
- Lead the Month-End close and support the Controller in managing deadlines and deliverables associated with year-end financial closing and financial statement preparation.
- Lead the preparation of materials for the filing of annual tax returns (IRS form 990, 990-T, and state filings) and liaises with tax advisory firm as necessary.
- Support the School's accounting operations, including:
- General accounting: Support the Controller to ensure the integrity of the general ledger, subsidiary ledgers, and other financial systems/applications
- Investment accounting: ensure proper recording and reconciliation of endowment investments, interfacing with Juilliard's outsourced investment office
- Cash Management: review bank reconciliations, monitor posting of receipts, assist in the reconciliation of postings and resolution of exceptions/reconciling items, process contributions, and other income
- Support the Student Accounts team with recording and reconciling tuition, financial aid, and cashiering transactions.
- Support all departments in the recording and posting of financial transactions.
- Develop and/or document policies and procedures to ensure appropriate internal controls and compliance.
- Prepare short and long-term cash flows forecasts.
- Process Improvements and Strategic Initiatives
- Identify areas for improvement in accounting processes and implement best practices to improve efficiency and level of service to the community.
- Act as a key point of contact for financial matters and support Juilliard's strategic initiatives.
- Work on special projects as assigned by the Controller or the CFO.
- Team Management
- Coach the accounting team to achieve a continuous improvement mindset.
- Initiate practices that lead to team cohesiveness and improved service levels to our customers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with a major in Accounting or equivalent
- Certified Public Accountant
- Five years supervisory level accounting experience
- Experience with Oracle Cloud preferred
- Strong managerial and collaboration skills. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Strong financial systems background with experience in process redesign and quality improvement.
- Proficiency in managing complex information systems. Excellent analytical, financial management and reporting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with a wide range of constituents having different responsibilities and levels of financial sophistication
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
- Experience in a higher education or not-for-profit organization preferred.
