The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety provides supervision and rehabilitation services for adult and young offenders, promotes appropriate and effective policing, and supports community and public safety services throughout Saskatchewan.
The Ministry is responsible for overseeing Saskatchewan's correctional system and facilities, protection of people, natural resources and infrastructure within the province of Saskatchewan.
The Accounting and Public Reporting unit in the Corporate Services Division is seeking a highly motivated, confident, and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership and financial management skills to be the Manager. This position reports to the Director, Accounting and Public Reporting. As a key member of the central accounting team, this position provides accounting expertise to program areas in the ministry who rely on your administrative and accounting support.
The successful candidate will be a strong communicator who has experience leading teams, driving continuous process improvement, and providing excellent customer service to program areas. The primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
This position requires extensive use of Microsoft Excel and MIDAS Financials and the ability to learn quickly and think critically to support the ministry's stakeholders.
Typically, our successful candidate will have obtained the knowledge required for this position through the completion of an undergraduate degree in Commerce or Business Administration combined with a CPA designation or working towards obtaining it. A combination of skills, training, and experience providing an equivalent background will be considered.

- Guide and coach a diverse group of employees to meet goals and objectives.
- Oversee the accounts payable and receivable functions as well as monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure timely and accurate completion.
- Assess the knowledge needs of staff and proactively develop and deliver effective formal and informal training as required.
- Provide senior level expertise, advice, and interpretation on a wide range of accounting-related issues.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reports and reconcile year-end schedules for submission to the Provincial Comptroller's Office.
- Plan, prioritize and organize a large volume of tasks taking into consideration frequent interruptions and changing priorities to meet tight timelines.
