Description
We have an immediate opening for a knowledgeable business leader and experienced food safety professional to join our Senior Leadership Team as the Director of Training and Certifications. This person will drive our business forward by directing training course offerings, maximizing training participation, business planning, and ensuring the integrity and impartiality of the Certification Body. The ideal candidate will be purpose-driven, professional, capable of managing diverse teams, and developing new business opportunities to move our business forward.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the operations and administration of the Training & Consulting Department.
Ensure impartiality of our Certification Body, Safe Food Certifications.
Ensure compliance to ISO 17065 accreditation in all certification activities and manage the accreditation program.
Create direction of both units by deciding which training courses and audit schemes are most relevant to our members and customers.
Develop long range business goals that lead to annual revenue growth and profitability of units.
Partner with sales and marketing teams to ensure annual goals are met or exceeded.
Provide technical guidance to the Business Development team, attend discovery calls and customer meetings to support the growth of the organization.
Maintain and improve current department and organization processes, including document control and record retention.
Maintain positive client relationships and respond to all technical client inquiries.
Follow and adhere to all required protocols and procedures of the certification body.
Must adhere to the code of conduct: integrity, honesty, impartiality, confidentiality, and reporting any potential conflicts of interest.
The Ideal Candidate:
This position requires a food safety leader who is innovative, proactive, and growth minded. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food safety and have an open and collaborative style. They will implement new strategies to restructure and grow the department by leveraging their experience, knowledge, skill, and abilities as follows:
In-depth understanding of cGMP regulatory requirements, HACCP requirements per FDA and Codex requirements, FSMA Regulatory requirements, and GFSI requirements including SQF, BRCGS, and Primus GFS.
Detailed understanding of FSMA regulations and ability to apply them to different types of operations within the food industry, such as Preventive Controls Qualified Individual.
Experience with various food sector categories and with different stages of the food supply chain, such as production, processing, retail packaging, and distribution.
Experience leading cross-functional teams on food safety and continual improvement.
Experience and success with customer relations.
Experience developing a company's food safety initiatives in GFSI.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Strong business acumen, business planning, and forecasting experience.
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum ten years' experience managing food safety and regulatory requirements.
Business minded and forward thinker.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to adapt and be flexible within a changing work environment.
Excellent interpersonal and communication both written and verbal skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Understanding FDA FSMA regulations and requirements.
