The Chief Engineer will report to the Director of Facilities and will work closely with maintenance professionals, vendors, contractors, and Tower management to ensure compliance with safety codes, efficiency standards, and operational goals.
This person is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and engineering operations of the Tower to ensure the facility remains in optimal working condition. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and organizational skills to maintain the building's mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily operations of the Tower engineering and maintenance on all tower systems and equipment function efficiently.
Conduct regular facility inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
Lead and mentor the maintenance technicians and provide training on safety procedures, emergency response, and equipment handling.
Develop and implement quality control programs to maintain the appearance and functionality of the Tower.
Prepare and submit budget estimates, monitor expenses, and track progress on work orders and maintenance projects.
Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and coordinate with external contractors to ensure fair pricing, compliance, and quality performance.
Ensure compliance with building and safety codes, conducting monthly safety inspections and implementing necessary corrections.
Respond to emergency maintenance issues, troubleshooting and resolving problems in a timely manner.
Work with Tower management on capital expenditure projects, remodeling efforts, and energy management initiatives.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities across various building systems.
Ability to work independently and lead effectively.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Strong communication skills to coordinate with management, partners, staff, and external vendors.
Technical proficiency in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life safety systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
