Function / Position Summary
The High School Associate Principal works closely with the Building Principal to provide instructional leadership, ensuring district-developed curricula is implemented with fidelity. Working closely with Assistant Principals, the Associate Principal will commit to equity among school stakeholders and help improve teacher effectiveness through job embedded professional development. Works collaboratively with others, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and contributes to building positive community relations and building a positive image of the school and District U-46. Supervision of staff and students is a requirement of the position. In the absence of the Principal, serves as the lead building administrator; representing the Principal at designated meetings and instructional programs. Working hours may extend into the evenings and weekends. Some travel required.

Job Duties / Responsibilities
  • Assists in developing and facilitating relevant school improvement initiatives, implements the District Strategic Plan, and assists with AdvancED Accreditation.
  • Supports the Principal to develop and implement the school improvement plan, aligning school-wide initiatives and the work of the Assistant Principals to improve student outcomes.
  • In collaboration with the Assistant Principals, develops, and manages a master calendar and master schedule that coordinate the daily routines of all school activities and functions. This includes routine follow through to ensure maximum operational efficiencies. Assures teacher course preparations are communicated prior to June 1 of each year.
  • Assists in the organization and administration of all standardized testing, including all components of PSAT/SAT, MAP, and AP exams, reporting test score data analysis assigned.
  • Ensures alignment of internal assessment practices with SAT suite of assessments.
  • Participates in the hiring, placement, evaluation, and supervision of certified and classified building personnel as assigned.
  • Coordinate school-wide professional development in standards based grading initiatives and SLO's. Designs and leads professional development sessions on site-based District Collaboration Days (DCD), in partnership with the School Improvement Team.
  • Assists in development of student recognition and informational program.
  • Organizes and plans the entire senior experience around senior recognition and graduation. Assures that the graduation venue is set up the night before and is in order the day of the ceremony.
  • Ensures that NCAA and ISAC requirements are fulfilled.
  • Well versed in national, state, and local educational goals and objectives.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Education
  • Master's Degree in Education K-12.
  • Professional Educator License (PEL) with General Administrative or Principal endorsement.
  • Performance Evaluation Qualifications required (Teacher & Principal).
  • Bilingual Spanish/English (verbal & written) preferred.

Experience / Knowledge
  • Knowledge of the current literature, trends, researched-based teaching best practices, analysis of formative and summative assessment data, and organization and presentation skills. Working knowledge of the Danielson evaluation model, and standards-based learning and assessment practices.
  • Knowledge of recent developments in the field of educational administration, curriculum and assessment, and professional development.
  • Proficient in utilizing computer as an integral resource and tool.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of recent teaching experience required in a secondary educational setting.
  • Prior managerial/administrative experience in a K-12 educational setting required.
  • Experience using formative assessment and other student data to improve instruction and the provision of academic and social supports.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills.

Physical Demands
  • Must be able to work on computer over a major portion of the work day.

Terms of Employment
  • This position is a 12-month work year. Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education.
Additional Information
The salary range for this position is $118,483.00 - $177,725.00. It is our typical practice to hire in between the minimum and midpoint ( $148,104.00).
