The purpose of this position is to:
- Manage all activity of the Quality Assurance Department in Cincinnati
- Manages efficient work flow through the quality control laboratory.
- Manage the activities of the quality control technicians.
- Responsible for laboratory safety and waste management.
- Maintain the analytical records required under Baerlocher Production USA's Quality Management System.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Direct the Quality Management of products manufactured or distributed from Cincinnati, OH by Baerlocher Production USA LLC.
- Implement appropriate analytical and other test methods for the testing and release of products.
- Direct the preparation of Certificate of Analysis for finished product.
- Direct the SAP administration of the Quality Control transactions.
- Oversee and train lab technicians & technologists.
- Perform quality receipt, testing and release of raw materials as required for manufacturing.
- Develops new methods of analysis for Baerlocher's products.
- Manage the testing for certified analyses of products and intermediates produced.
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain analytical equipment in the lab, including calibrations.
- Conducts regular validation studies on test methods and employee test result accuracy.
- Manage the maintaining of various files, e.g. SDS files, COA files, safety files, quality files.
- Communicates with customers when necessary
- Drives continuous improvement in lab testing, equipment, and staffing.
Candidate Qualifications
Minimum Requirement:
- Holds a B.S. degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
- Has 10 years' industrial experience in quality control and quality systems
- Has 5 years' experience with supervisory/managerial responsibilities
- Has good written and oral communication skills along with attention to detail
Strongly desired:
- Holds an advanced degree in Analytical Chemistry
- Understands process chemistry and optimization from the lab to manufacturing scale
- Experience or demonstrated capability to manage, supervise, and train laboratory personnel
- Excellent knowledge of quality lab practices
- Ability operate, trouble shoot, and maintain HPLC and other laboratory equipment in a quantitative method
- Good organization, communication, and management skills.
- Working knowledge of computers, Microsoft software, and ability to learn specialized technical software
- Six Sigma and DOE experience
- Experience with ISO and Quality Systems and Assurance programs
