The Role

In your capacity as Head of Technical Service, North America you will be instrumental in fostering the expansion of our company across North America (NAM). This entails steering a dedicated team of Technical Service Managers (TSM's) to achieve our business objectives. Your leadership role extends beyond management; it involves providing both direct and remote assistance to our Pulp and Paper customers and working closely with our Global business unit. Your active engagement in cultivating enduring customer relationships, orchestrating mill trials, and pinpointing new business prospects is vital. You will maintain a dual reporting structure by directly reporting to the Regional Commercial Manager, NAM and indirectly to the Technical Service Director.

You will be responsible for:
  • Leading the P&P Technical team and delivering the short- & long-term business goals and objectives
  • Working closely with Key Account Managers and the technical services team to develop and maintain relationships with the customers' key decision makers and stakeholders
  • Participating in identifying customer needs, supporting the development of solutions as well as providing technical assessments of opportunities
  • Identifying and assessing market potential and business opportunities in the region, together with the commercial team
  • Ensuring adherence to best practices in trialling as well as equipment quality and maintenance for industrial applications
  • Contributing to the Global Pulp and Paper team as the enzyme expert and technical expert
  • Leading coordination, planning, execution, and follow up of mill trials in NAM including reporting and documentation
  • Participates in the Global Industry Reviews to provide market and customer insights
  • Collaborating closely with the Global Application Development team to develop application knowledge and support R&D projects
  • Respecting local environmental requirements, safety practices, equipment, and quality issues relevant to the business and in close coordination with mills, to enable safe trialling of enzymes

About You

Required qualifications and skills:
  • 10+ year's work experience in the Pulp and Paper industry with a strong technical background
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate and guide a team towards achieving organizational goals
  • BSc in Paper Science, Engineering or comparable
  • Experience with the application of enzymes is a clear asset
  • Solid understanding of technical and commercial industry needs in NAM and globally
  • Structured and results-oriented person taking a proactive approach with a sense of urgency in driving projects to completion while dealing with multiple priorities
  • Ability to network within the industry and manage stakeholders at multiple levels
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively translate between technology and customer needs
  • Willingness and ability to travel (including international) >50%
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English are essential
