Job Summary:

The Production Manager is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the overall production operation in accordance with the vision and values of the Baerlocher Group and plays an important part in the overall turnaround activities.

On-time deliveries while maintaining focus on quality is critical. The Production Manager fosters a

"culture of quality & safety" for all production supervisors and the employees by promoting and modeling an employee driven, hazard controlled environment. Manage and coordinate the production plan (daily/weekly) to meet delivery schedules and budgeted cost/efficiency expectations. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, support with

coordinating preventive maintenance plans and lead the implementation of improvements to increase performance results. Holds self and staff directly accountable for adherence to standards, policies & regulations and support the Director of Operations in the overall Management Process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, organize and control production in accordance with the production schedule to ensure that products are produced efficiently, on time, within budget and to specification/standard.
  • Manage and evaluate machine resources to ensure productivity and minimal downtime, demanding strong performance and support from the maintenance and engineering team.
  • Determine resources needed to meet production goals.
  • Cooperate with HR; actively engage in the hiring process, resulting in the best candidates being selected.
  • Be solution oriented and routinely make recommendations for continuous improvement and LEAN activities within the areas of responsibility.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPI's) and provide deep analysis in order to meet the targets. Implement corrective actions if targets are not achieved.
  • Lead and coach production supervisors and operators by providing support, facilitating effective performance management, cultivating a positive culture and working environment, driving business initiatives and encouraging self-development.
  • Develop and implement training needs, monitor training and skill development of all production employees.
  • Drive Safety through the proper use of machines, tools and equipment, appraise technological developments, investigate, feasibility of new equipment and techniques, and prepare dependable cost estimates for changes in manufacturing methods.
  • Ensure proper communication to all relevant cross-functional departments.
  • Lead daily Gemba Walks and participate in overall audits conducted.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

We assume that the possible candidate has the ability to think and act independently and entrepreneurially, that the candidate has a structured way of working, the analytical capabilities paired with an instinct for people and is a flexible team-player with a "hands-on" mentality.

In addition, we require:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5-years practical work experience in production management, preferred in chemical manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing methods, techniques, and related equipment, production scheduling and manufacturing operations
  • Must possess an Understanding of Business Issues, Accountability and Ownership as well as Technical Expertise
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office programs, such as Word, PowerPoint, MS Excel and Outlook
  • Knowledge in ISO 9001:2015 and understanding of OSHA-requirements
  • Strong Ethics & Values paired with successful leadership experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and analytical/math skills required. Able to communicate clearly to resolve issues
  • Drive for Results, Building Effective Teams and Timely Decisions and Problem Solving
  • Flexible team-player with "hands-on" mentality
