Summary
The Vice President of Community and Business Engagement (VP CBE) is responsible for cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with local governments, public service departments, and both large and small businesses in the communities where Rescue Mission Alliance operates. This role is essential in fostering partnerships that enhance RMA's ability to serve those in need, expanding community support, and increasing collaboration with external stakeholders. The VP CBE will act as a primary ambassador of RMA, ensuring that the organization's mission and impact are well understood and supported by community leaders and business partners. This is a full-time, exempt position, in Oxnard, CA. Compensation is commensurate with skills and experience.

This position requires extended times of work in an office environment in meetings and working at a desk and computer,travel, lifting up to 30 lbs.

Although this position functions to a large degree in an office setting, as a part of normal duties this position will be in locations with an at-risk population where errant behavior and risk of infectious disease may be present, as well as commercial settings where medium duty equipment may be in use, such as forklifts and bailers. Appropriate safety considerations will be required to avoid illness or injury.

Key Responsibilities
Community and Government Relations:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to engage local governments, city councils, mayors' offices, and community boards in support of RMA's mission.
- Establish strong working relationships with public service departments to collaborate on crisis response, community outreach, and public safety initiatives.
- Represent RMA at city and county meetings, advocating for policies and funding that support the homeless and underserved populations.
- Stay informed on local government policies and initiatives that may impact RMA and proactively address concerns.
Business Engagement and Partnerships:
- Build and sustain partnerships with large and small businesses, encouraging financial support, in-kind donations, and corporate volunteerism.
- Develop corporate sponsorship programs that align businesses with RMA's programs and fundraising initiatives.
- Work closely with chambers of commerce, trade associations, and business networks to integrate RMA into the economic fabric of the communities it serves.
- Facilitate opportunities for business leaders to engage directly with RMA through mentorship programs, advisory councils, and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Community Outreach and Engagement:
- Organize and lead networking events, community roundtables, and engagement forums to connect RMA with key stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for community engagement efforts, ensuring consistent messaging that aligns with RMA's vision and values.
- Collaborate with RMA's marketing and donor engagement teams to craft outreach strategies that increase visibility and community involvement.
- Promote volunteer opportunities within businesses, local agencies, and civic organizations to strengthen community involvement.
Strategic Planning and Impact Measurement:
- Develop annual goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of community and business engagement efforts.
- Work closely with internal teams to integrate community engagement strategies into RMA's overall strategic plan.
- Monitor and report on engagement activities, providing regular updates to the CEO and Board of Directors.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, Communications, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in community relations, business engagement, nonprofit leadership, or governmental affairs.
- Strong existing relationships with local government officials, first responders, and business leaders preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in building partnerships, securing sponsorships, and fostering long-term community support.
- Excellent public speaking, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to travel frequently to RMA ministry locations and attend external meetings/events.
- Passion for RMA's mission and commitment to serving vulnerable populations.
