Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse
Job Specialty: Cath Lab Specialist
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Days - Monday-Friday, with after-hours call, 4x10 Hr
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: Minimum of one year experience preferred; nursing skills and knowledge specific to specialty
License: State RN license or RN license from a participating state in the NLC required
Certifications:
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Required
- Certified Critical-Care RN (CCRN) - Preferred

Must-Have:
- Experience in cardiovascular and cardiac therapy
- Skills in therapeutic procedures, calibration, maintenance, and ultrasound

Job Description:

- Assess patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interviews, and review of medical records & clinical data.
- Evaluate patients' responses and intervene to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Develop and implement patient care plans and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate competency in various therapeutic/diagnostic interventions, including IVs, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections.
- Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health, safety, and rights of each patient.
- Provide patient and family education by assessing learning readiness, needs, and abilities. Evaluate the effectiveness of teaching.
- Recognize patients or designees as full partners in providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for preferences, values, and needs.
- Deliver relationship-based care with respect for cultural differences and the diversity of human experience.
- Delegate tasks to non-RN personnel in accordance with State Board of Nursing and hospital policy.
- Use time, personnel, equipment, and supplies effectively to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
- Serve as a professional role model, demonstrating ethical, legal, and professional nursing processes.
- Manage resources and patient flow through matching nursing competencies with individualized patient and unit needs.
- Use standards of care, hospital policies/procedures, and regulatory guidelines to guide practice.
- Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care.
- Precept and mentor new staff or nursing students as needed.
- Seek learning opportunities and continuing education to maintain skills and competence in clinical practice or role performance.
- Maintain professional records that provide evidence of competency and lifelong learning.
- Evaluate personal integrity and nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines, statutes, rules, and regulations.
- Take action to achieve goals identified during the evaluation process.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the organization through ongoing participation in hospital and unit-based meetings.
- Understand the value of measurement and the importance of continuous quality improvement data.
- Use quality measures to improve performance and accountability for patient outcomes, patient experiences, and safe delivery of care.
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities.
- Use current healthcare research findings and other evidence to expand clinical knowledge, enhance role performance, and increase knowledge of professional issues.
