DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Merchandising to drive our brand's product strategy and ensure alignment with our creative vision. This role will collaborate closely with the Creative, Marketing, and Buying teams to curate an assortment that reflects the company's aesthetic and business goals. The ideal candidate has a strong background in home decor and furnishings merchandising, trend forecasting, and product selection while maintaining a commercial mindset.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is open to candidates in Los Angeles with the ability to travel to our office in Calabasas at least 3 times per week and occasionally to our warehouse in Chatsworth.
Head of Merchandising COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
The starting salary range for this position is $100,000 - $130,000

This role will collaborate closely with the Creative, Marketing, and Buying teams to curate an assortment that reflects the company's aesthetic and business goals. The ideal candidate has a strong background in home decor and furnishings merchandising, trend forecasting, and product selection while maintaining a commercial mindset.
Head of Merchandising RESPONSIBILITIES:
Merchandising Strategy & Assortment Planning
- Develop and execute a merchandising strategy that aligns with brand identity and financial objectives.
- Partner with the Buying and Planning teams to ensure the right product mix across categories.
- Oversee product lifecycle management, including new launches, seasonal assortments, and markdown strategies.
Cross-Department Collaboration
- Work closely with the Creative team to ensure the product assortment reflects brand storytelling.
- Align merchandising decisions with Marketing campaigns and eCommerce strategies.
- Partner with Planning to balance inventory levels and maximize profitability.
- Collaborate with design and sourcing teams to develop new decor products aligned with creative directives.
Trend & Market Analysis
- Conduct competitive analysis and trend forecasting to identify opportunities for product expansion.
- Stay ahead of market shifts to ensure the brand remains relevant and competitive.
- Seek new vendors based on best price, quality, availability, and reliability. Ensure vendors meet company ISO standards and approvals.
- Travel as necessary to markets and key vendor meetings.
Leadership & Team Development
- Collaborate with and mentor the buying team, ensuring clear communication of brand vision.
- Build strong relationships with vendors and partners to secure unique and exclusive product opportunities.
Head of Merchandising QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years of experience in merchandising, buying, or product strategy, ideally in home furnishings, decor, or lifestyle brands.
- Proven ability to bridge creative vision with business objectives.
- Strong understanding of market trends, consumer behavior, and financial planning.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Experience working with Planning, Creative, and Marketing teams to align strategies.
- Proficiency in merchandising software, sales analysis tools, and Microsoft Excel.
