Purpose
PURPOSE
The Program Manager, R&D is responsible for leading and managing high impact R&D equipment projects, including new opportunity identification, technology development, product development and line extensions.
Key Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create long and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines
- Provide technical project leadership for complex design, development and research projects
- Effectively provide guidance to project teams in development of products and technologies from concept to commercialization, while adhering to medical device design controls/regulatory requirements
- Make effective decisions to progress project forward
- Serve as a point of contact for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy
- Communicate with executives to keep the project aligned with their goals
- Define product specifications, design inputs, product design, verification testing and supporting design validation studies.
- Work with internal and external manufacturing partners to ensure producible designs (DFM)
- Contribute to company Intellectual Property Portfolio
- Hold self and team members accountable to meet commitments
- Ensure budgets and schedules are well planned and followed
- Effectively communicate activity status, issues and mitigation plans with key stakeholders
Qualification
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Must possess experience in Design control processes with Medical Devices
- Exceptional project/program management, planning, recommendation making, negotiating, communication and change management skills.
- Experience with resource and budget management
- Proven track records of developing products from concept to launch
- Knowledge of cGMP's and FDA/CE Mark regulatory requirements
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients
- Good understanding of MS office tools (MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
- 10 years relevant experience leading teams in development and commercialization of medical device products, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Equipment development experience preferred
- PMP Certification is a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Extensive use of keyboard requiring repetitive motion of fingers.
- Extensive use of telephone and face-to-face communication requiring accurate perception of speech.
- Regular sitting and standing for extended periods of time.
- Bending, squatting, and lifting up to 30 lbs.
- May require travel up to 20%.
