Overview:

Our Legal Services Unit, part of Pembina's External Affairs Division, is expanding and looking for an experienced, business-minded and motivated Legal Counsel or Senior Legal Counsel to join our team. Reporting to Pembina's Associate General Counsel, the successful candidate will work as part of Pembina's in-house legal team providing legal support and services on a wide variety of securities, general corporate and commercial matters.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Provide legal support and advice for financings and capital markets matters;
  • Draft, coordinate and provide guidance on public disclosure documents;
  • Advise and provide updates on corporate governance;
  • Provide support on a variety of corporate matters, including tax, banking and corporate secretarial matters;
  • Assist on commercial matters, including reviewing, negotiating and drafting commercial agreements; and
  • Co-ordinate the use of outside counsel on various corporate and commercial matters.


Qualifications:

  • A minimum of four years of legal experience in securities and corporate finance, gained either at a top-tier law firm or large in-house legal department;
  • Involvement in project work, corporate/commercial or oil and gas law is an asset;
  • Strong and effective written and verbal negotiation and communication skills;
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills;
  • Strong leadership and facilitation skills with the ability to support group dynamics;
  • Self-directed and motivated;
  • Able to quickly modify work priorities to meet unexpected and sometimes competing deadlines;
  • Knowledge of current industry standards and legislation to ensure practices are current and in compliance;
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a variety of people and job functions within the organization internally and externally;
  • Advising and providing updates on emerging legal trends and issues applicable to subject matters relevant to the role;
