Factors that may be used to determine where newly hired employees will be placed in the pay range include the employee specific skills and qualifications, relevant years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most often, a newly hired employee will be placed below the midpoint of the range. Salary range will vary for remote positions outside of California and future increases will be based on the pay band for the city and state you reside in.

POSITION SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to direct and provide oversight to the Accounting team through timely and accurate completion of the monthly, quarterly and annual financial close cycles, supporting the annual financial audit activities, and coordinating the quarterly and annual financial regulatory reporting. The position is responsible for the development of appropriate financial reporting tools, collaboration with all departments across GCHP to ensure the propriety of financial estimates, and coordination with FP&A to explain variances to budget. This position will also be responsible for creating and maintaining appropriate Accounting policies and procedures.

Key responsibilities of this positions include:
Lead, guide and direct daily activities of the Accounting team.
Cross-functional collaboration with all GCHP departments to ensure financial estimates are fully informed.
Facilitates decision-making by providing actionable financial information.
Ensures timely, accurate and complete financial regulatory reporting.
Provides leadership and coaching to Accounting team staff and communicate financial and business results in a clear, concise, and easily understood way in both written and verbal communication forms.

Essential Functions Statements
Responsible for streamlining and improving the accounting system and processes related fixed assets and GL accounting operation.
Responsible for reviewing financial statement accounting records as well as account reconciliations.
Responsible for annual, quarterly, and monthly US entities close processes.
Responsible for annual and quarterly financial regulatory reporting.
Review lease agreement and amortization schedules under ASC 842/GASB 96.
Lead system and process improvements related to close timeline and accounting record accuracy.
Maintains oversight within the Company for the accuracy and compliance of accounting transactions and processes.
Collaborates with FP&A to provide explanations for actual to budget variances
Makes appropriate decisions concerning the accounting treatment of financial transactions accuracy.
Manages, hires, trains, and develops staff within Accounting in accordance with established departmental and organizational policies.
Cooperates with external auditors to audit accounting procedures and reports.
Collaborates with the Internal Controls team to conduct periodical self-audits of internal systems and procedures. Works with Internal Controls to improve process controls and efficiency.
Plans and coordinates organizational activities, establishing priorities to meet the designated deadlines, goals, and objectives.
Participates in special cross-functional projects and assignments as needed.
Assists Controller and Finance Team as necessary in other analytical projects and duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education:
Bachelor's Degree Required, Field of Study: Accounting preferred, or Business/Finance or a related field
CPA Preferred

Experience:
7 plus years of progressive experience in Accounting/Finance management.
Minimum 5 years of experience with health insurance: Required.
Medicare and/or Medi-Cal managed care: Preferred.

Computer Skills:
Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning systems, Workday: preferred.
Strong working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products (Advanced Excel- Lookups, SumIfs, pivot tables, data management)
Knowledge of business intelligence tools and experience with PowerBI and Milliman MedInsight: Preferred.

Other Requirements:
Familiarity with both GAAP and GASB.
Ability to work in a team environment, take and give directions and follow through with tasks and projects.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and research ability.
Knowledge of principles and practices of managed health care industry and strategies, provider contracting, IBNR, pricing and rate setting, claims, provider network structures and risk sharing arrangements.
Strong verbal and written communication and developed presentation skills.
