Job Description
Job Title: Interventional Radiology Technologist

Job Specialty: Interventional Radiology

Job Duration: 14 weeks

Shift: 10-hour day shift, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM, plus on-call

Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Experience: Preferably one year of imaging experience and experience in invasive cardiovascular technology

License: Registered Technologist in Radiology, Vascular-Interventional Radiology, or Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiology - R.T. (R)(VI)(ARRT) or R.T. (R)(CV)(ARRT); Colorado Surgical Assistant License required upon hire unless performing duties within the scope of another active Colorado license, certification, or registration (for Colorado employed staff only).

Certifications:
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support

Must-Have:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Associate degree strongly preferred
- Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English

Job Description:

- Provide quality patient care within the medical imaging department.
- Perform high-quality imaging and exams while being sensitive to patient needs.
- Follow standards of safe radiation practice to ensure safety.
- Demonstrate leadership and serve as a role model for other technologists.
- Assist physicians in specialized cardiovascular procedures, including diagnostic and interventional catheterization, pacemaker/defibrillator implantation, intra-aortic balloon pump operation, and electrophysiology studies.
- Practice all regulations intending to reduce personal and patient exposure to ALARA.
- Produce complete, accurate, and timely quality images.
- Provide information and instruction to patients and families about procedures, and respond to their physical and emotional needs.
- Facilitate smooth patient flow, including scheduling and optimal use of equipment and resources.
- Communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with physicians, imaging personnel, students, and hospital staff.
- Assist with patient transport as needed.
- Perform IV starts and contrast administration as required.
- Complete documentation and paperwork related to imaging procedures.
- Prepare examination rooms, equipment, and materials needed.
- Maintain technical operation of equipment, report problems, and ensure cleanliness and organization of work area.
- Maintain high skill levels through ongoing education and sharing knowledge with staff.
- Participate in quality and process improvement initiatives within the department or hospital.
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, accreditation, and hospital regulations and standards.
- Contribute to ACR accreditation as requested.
- Demonstrate effective time management and prioritize workload to meet productivity requirements.
- Address patient needs, evaluate and document patient status, and make timely interventions.
- Adhere to departmental standards regarding equipment, personnel, and supply usage.
- Adapt to changing workloads, patient needs, technologies, and staffing requirements.
