Introduction

The DET is seeking their next Desktop Support Supervisor within their Client Engineering Desktop Support & Help Desk Section!

All employees are expected to live and work in Wisconsin. This position will have the option of working remotely upon agreement of the supervisor but may be asked to come into the office periodically. This schedule may change based on operational needs and organizational requirements.

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Client Engineering Section Chief, this position provides supervision and leadership for the Desktop Support Team, whose mission is to deliver enterprise-level help desk services, desktop/client technology support, and system management functions for the State of Wisconsin consumers of Enterprise Desktop and Client Computing Services. The Enterprise includes the Department of Administration and other DOA Supported agencies and boards. This position supervises both full-time staff and contractor support, ensuring high standards for technical support, collaboration, and customer satisfaction are met.

The role requires strong knowledge of desktop-related technology, IT service delivery frameworks, project management concepts, and an understanding of evolving cybersecurity requirements. It is crucial for the supervisor to effectively engage with diverse audiences, including organizational leadership, technical IT staff, IT vendors, business representatives, and a contractor workforce.

Salary Information

Starting hourly rate for this IS Supervisor 2 position will be between $39.04- $60.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. This classification is assigned to pay schedule/range 70-02. Current State employees will be compensated in accordance with the current State Compensation Plan.

Job Details

Due to the nature of the position, DOA will conduct fingerprinting and background checks on applicants prior to selection. DOA does not sponsor work visas. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States, and to complete the required employment eligibility form upon hire.

All employees are expected to live and work in Wisconsin. Certain positions within this Department may allow remote/work from home flexibility for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and the work unit. This topic and any remote work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified candidates will have experience with all of the following:
  • Experience supervising, leading, or managing IT teams or projects, including end-user support, IT service delivery, and technical operations that contribute to organizational IT effectiveness.
  • Working in an IT service role providing hardware, software, and application support services.
  • Working with internal and external business partners/customers to provide IT services.
In addition to the minimum qualifications, well qualified applicants will have:
  • Experience managing an Enterprise IT Service/Help Desk supporting a high-volume IT environment (e.g., 300+ users or processing 500+ tickets per month), ensuring timely incident resolution and SLA adherence.
  • Experience leading or managing IT projects with a focus on change management and end-user adoption.
  • Working with automation tools or AI-driven IT service enhancements.
