What we expect

The position is a full-time on-site role based in our Brisbane, CA office.

Someone who is highly knowledgeable in software, hardware, and networks within a Linux OS. They must be critical thinkers and problem-solvers with great attention to detail. Since end-user support and teamwork are essential aspects of the role, excellent communication and people skills are required. Additionally, they support company Linux networks and optimize their performance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide internal IT desktop support in a Ubuntu Linux environment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues for end-users
  • Perform system administration tasks, including security updates and software installations
  • Automate deployment and management of Linux laptops
  • Implement shell scripting modifications for a base Linux image to optimize configurations
  • Diagnose and resolve usability limitations in Linux environments, including software compatibility, system settings, and user experience enhancements
  • Support and enhance Linux workstation deployment, including peripherals (printers, network cards, etc.)
  • Act as the technical liaison for network service providers, assisting in network troubleshooting


Must Have

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Familiarity with scripting or basic knowledge of a systems programming language (e.g., Bash, Python, or Perl)
  • Knowledge of Linux systems, applications, and hardware, with troubleshooting and repair abilities
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Broad understanding of network issues; able to troubleshoot with service providers
  • Experience with Foreman or PXE provisioning, including preseed, auto-install, and Kickstart for automated deployments
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation


Nice to Have

  • CompTIA Linux+ or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification
  • Linux system administration at an advanced level
  • Experience/knowledge with SaaS/Cloud based applications
  • Sociable and outgoing
  • Willing to learn constantly and work proactively
  • Prior experience at a fast-growing startup

The estimated annual compensation range for this role is $70,000-$110,000. Please note that actual salaries may vary within, above, or below this range based on factors such as education, training, experience, professional achievement, business needs, and location.
