Position Summary

We have the opportunity for an experienced Knowledge & Innovation (K&I) Counsel to join the firm's expanding K&I Department. The K&I Counsel will be part of the K&I Department and report directly to the Senior Manager, K&I Counsel. Drawing on legal background and experience, the K&I Counsel helps ensure Firm attorneys and other professionals effectively leverage the organization's extensive expertise, work product, and various K&I resources. In doing so, the K&I Counsel plays a critical role in helping deliver consistent and high-quality legal services to clients. The successful candidate must reside proximate to Atlanta, GA, Raleigh, NC, or Tampa, FL and this position may be remote or hybrid.

Essential Functions

  • Identify, create, and curate content for use by Firm attorneys and other professionals, including checklists, model documents, practice notes, and multi-jurisdiction surveys
  • Partner with K&I colleagues, Firm personnel, and third-party vendors to develop, maintain, and upgrade internal-facing, direct-access K&I tools and services
  • Serve as K&I liaison to multiple Firm practice/industry groups, helping to educate these groups on pertinent K&I offerings and assisting them in adopting K&I
  • Respond to internal requests for assistance locating Firm subject-matter experts, work product, and K&I resources
  • Develop and present internal training on available K&I tools and services, including to attorneys, offices, and practice/industry groups
  • Collaborate with other K&I teams as needed, including in developing, maintaining, and upgrading client-facing K&I tools and services
  • Participate in discussions on process enhancements, workflow, and improved ways of working, contributing to, and building a culture of continuous improvement
  • Remain current on both legal developments impacting the Firm's practice/industry groups and news, trends, and other information affecting the K&I industry
  • Market the Firm's K&I tools and services through blog posts, external publications, and presentations at internal and external events
  • Engage with Firm attorneys and other personnel with analysis, confidence, professionalism, and tact commensurate with that of a mid- to senior-level attorney
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education and Experience
  • Juris Doctorate (JD); licensed and authorized to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, including the jurisdiction where candidate is physically located
  • 3+ years of experience practicing law in a labor and employment law firm or the labor and employment law department of general practice firm

  • Knowledgeable: In-depth knowledge of relevant legal principles and terminology, particularly those related to the labor and employment law practice; understanding and use of K&I principles, methodologies, and technologies

  • Proactive: Takes independent action and reasonable risk; seeks and offers help when needed
  • Problem Solver: Skillfully assesses and issue-spots inquiries, requests, and other situations; uses experience and knowledge to identify and convey meaningfully solutions

  • Technology: Proficient in iManage or other DMS, Microsoft 365 (specifically Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and Word), and timekeeping systems; ability and willingness to learn additional or new technologies
