Description:

The Nonprofit Gifts Officer is responsible for cultivating and managing relationships with existing and prospective donors, securing financial contributions, and supporting fundraising strategies to meet the nonprofit's revenue goals. This position requires a strong understanding of donor relations, fundraising practices, and the mission of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Donor Cultivation & Stewardship:

  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit gifts from major donors, foundations, and corporations.
  • Build and sustain relationships with donors through regular communication, meetings, and personalized stewardship plans.
  • Ensure proper recognition and appreciation of donor contributions through thank-you letters, reports, and special events.

Fundraising & Solicitation:

  • Develop and implement strategies to secure donations, including one-time gifts, multi-year pledges, and planned giving.
  • Create donor proposals and solicitations that align with the donor's philanthropic interests and the organization's needs.
  • Meet or exceed fundraising targets set by the organization.

Event Planning & Coordination:

  • Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising events, donor recognition events, and other activities aimed at enhancing donor engagement.
  • Work closely with event teams to ensure that events are successful and that donors feel appreciated.

Database Management & Reporting:

  • Maintain up-to-date records of donor information, including giving history, preferences, and engagement.
  • Use fundraising software and databases to track gifts, pledges, and donor interactions.
  • Provide regular reports to leadership on fundraising progress and donor engagement.

Collaborative Teamwork:

  • Work closely with the executive team, board members, and volunteers to build a culture of philanthropy within the organization.
  • Participate in strategy meetings to set fundraising goals and track progress.

Marketing and Communications Support:

  • Assist with the development of marketing materials, donor newsletters, and social media content to promote the organization's mission and fundraising campaigns.
  • Support the creation of compelling case statements and donor-centric messaging.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience: Proven experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, or sales; at least 2-5 years of experience is typically required.
  • Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Knowledge of donor management systems (CRM software).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Creative, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
  • Preferred:
  • Experience with major gift fundraising.
  • Familiarity with planned giving and grant writing.
  • Knowledge of the specific nonprofit sector in which the organization operates (e.g., healthcare, education, arts).

Compensation: $43 to $52 an hour
Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
