Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse

Job Specialty: Clinical Education Specialist

Job Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Day 5x8-Hour (08:00 - 16:30)

Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

Experience: Minimum of five years of recent clinical experience and/or experience as an RN educator

License: Current RN license in California

Certifications: BLS Certification

Must-Have: BSN (Master's degree preferred), experience in nursing education, staff development, and curriculum development

Job Description:

- Provide ongoing assessment of staff members' educational needs and strategically design, implement, and evaluate educational offerings.
- Collaborate with department leadership and Director of Clinical Education to ensure staff competency.
- Plan, coordinate, and evaluate education programs provided and conduct annual needs assessments.
- Develop and implement department orientation for all staff members, offering written orientation plans and skills checklists.
- Partner with management to schedule new staff with mentors/preceptors and communicate learners' needs and goals.
- Assist managers in providing input for employees' introductory and annual reviews.
- Identify the need for in-service training and continuing education through assessments and professional practice trends.
- Develop training programs to ensure staff competence with new or revised procedures or practices.
- Monitor staff competence and maintain appropriate records, files, and statistics.
- Review and update reference materials for staff, patients, and physicians as applicable.
- Coordinate the development and/or revision of new standards, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct annual educational needs assessments for assigned units.
- Provide a monthly in-service topic along with additional educational training as needed.
- Maintain clinical competence in area of specialty and provide direct patient care as assigned.
- Promote positive working relationships with physicians, colleagues, vendors, guests, and others.
- Participate in intradepartmental and organizational committees and coordinate department meetings as needed.
- Actively participate in planning and implementation of annual competency fairs and project improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrate skills necessary to provide care and services suitable to the population served.
- Other duties as assigned.
