With over 2000 customers nationwide, Gatewise is a rapidly growing industry leader. We manage payments to over 100 vendors and are scaling operations to support our expanding business.
Role Description
We are hiring our first in-house Financial Controller as part of our continued growth. Until now, our finance and accounting functions have been handled externally, but as we expand, we are bringing this role in-house to establish a strong financial foundation and build a finance team from the ground up.
This is a full-time, in-office position based in Houston, TX. The Financial Controller will oversee all financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and financial strategy execution.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all accounting and financial operations, transitioning from external to in-house processes
Prepare and maintain financial statements and journal entries
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and vendor payments (100+ vendors)
Establish internal financial controls to support scalability
Handle tax compliance, audits, and regulatory reporting
Manage fixed assets, depreciation, and general ledger accounting
Partner with leadership on financial strategy and business growth
Recruit and build a finance team as the company continues to grow
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
10+ years of experience in accounting & financial management
Strong expertise in GAAP, financial reporting, and compliance
Experience in SaaS or technology companies (preferred)
Experience leading finance functions or transitioning from outsourced to in-house
Strong knowledge of financial systems, accounting software, and automation tools
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent (preferred)
Prior experience building and leading a finance team (preferred)
