The Prairie Payments Joint Venture (PPJV) is a joint venture owned by three Prairie centrals created to digitally transform and modernize payment services for credit unions in the Prairies. PPJV's goal is to ensure prairie credit unions are competitive in payments and have access to efficient, modernized payments processing infrastructure.
ROLE SUMMARY:
Prairie Payments Joint Venture (PPJV) is undergoing a payments modernization initiative and requires an experienced Business Analyst who has experience and real-world understanding of payments services, particularly in Interac e-Transfer and real-time payments.
At Prairie Payments Joint Venture, Business Analysts (BA) conduct comprehensive business analysis of the organization's business/technical operations. These highly analytical specialists have both business and technical expertise. The BA will work in the cohesive team and will take ownership of detailed analysis for specific features of the payment products. Defining the required functionality will involve liaison with cross functional teams, clients, and third-party vendors.
To excel in this position, the BA should be an experienced professional with in-depth knowledge of business processes and business system analysis techniques. The ideal candidate will also be dedicated and demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Elicit business and technical requirements to deliver scope and business value of a given feature or enhancement as defined by a Product Owner/Manager and Business Stakeholders
- Conduct detailed analysis for feature and/or enhancement requirements
- Work closely with the development and testing teams to communicate and elaborate business requirements and specifications
- Document business requirements (BRD), supported by illustrative workflow diagrams
- Support the teams through development and testing phases, providing domain expertise as required
- Active participation in daily stand-ups and defect triages
- Agreeing and gaining sign off on business requirements with Business Stakeholders
- Define scope for each implementation feature and/or enhancement by documenting its functionality in detail
- Organize and conduct joint application development or design (JAD) sessions for the project working groups
- Conduct requirements walkthrough sessions with extended project teams, addressing issues/concerns raised
- Demonstrate functionality using presentation deck for each delivered program implementation feature or enhancement/component
- Maintain project backlog for a new or deferred features for future consideration
- Maintain a repository of project documentation, granting access for stakeholders and working groups
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, or relevant field
- A minimum of 5-7 years' experience as a business analyst
- Creation and elaboration of business requirements, rules and technical specifications using industry best practices
- Use of unified modeling language (UML) diagrams including Sequence Diagrams and State Diagrams using a modelling tool (or Visio)
- Proven experience in integration of Interac payment transfer functionality in banking digital channel and core banking system
- In-depth understanding of ISO20022 payment messages, schemas, and the usage of specific fields within those messages is preferable
- Experience in financial services industry and technology
- Awareness of industry initiatives impacting the Payments environment
- Detailed practical experience of multiple retail Payment Schemes
- Knowledge and understanding of Wires, Bill Payments, Cheque or Automated Funds Transfer an asset
- Experience handling various payment vendor products in production environments
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment
- Excellent analytical skills and a passion for the detail - the candidate must demonstrate an ability to logically divide up a problem, identify and resolve contradictions and ambiguities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Highly analytical mindset
- Experience of working in a Waterfall and Agile Scrum software development environment, always focusing on delivery of business value
- Experience in working with project management tools such as MS Vision, JIRA, etc
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
