Why does the job exist?

The position is responsible for the tax distribution of approximately $20 billion of collections that fund other state agencies, local public bodies and schools throughout New Mexico.

How does it get done?

This position:

* Supervises three full time employees in managerial positions and their staff
* Oversee the annual financial audit related to the financial distributions, preparation of the fiduciary financial statements, preparation of the accounting schedules and reconciliations,
* Prepares distributions of tax collections, preparation of legislative Fiscal Impact Report (FIR).
* Provides oversight and supervision of the cash management, motor vehicle and tax code bureaus as it relates to monthly operations.

State agencies, local public bodies, schools and Taxation and Revenue Department.

Ideal Candidate

Preferred managerial experience with:

* Master's Degree and eight years of directly related financial experience
* Managerial Experience
* Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
* Working knowledge of Statutes, legislative processes
* Demonstrated leadership and communication skills that will include working with other managers within the department and entities outside of the department

Minimum Qualification

A Master's degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and eight (8) years of professional level experience with a strategic impact directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling fourteen (14) years may substitute for the required education and experience. A hiring agency will designate a portion of the required experience to include management and/or specialized experience. Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment. Must be current with all tax reporting/payment. Employment is subject to pre-employment criminal background check to include fingerprint checks and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
