Job description
The Logistics Specialist will be dedicated to improving and maturing processes and performance across all warehouse functions at the WWS Carson site. They will serve as a process expert and be responsible to analyze productions plans and workflow strategies to identify opportunities for improvement. They will develop action plans and implement comprehensive improvement projects within all functions of the warehouse, including receiving, kitting, cycle counting, put away and shipping. They will drive changes in partnership with the Continuous Improvement Manager to achieve significant performance improvements across all areas of logistics.
Develop and implement processes and improvements within the Logistics department which will improve overall supply chain performance, stockroom accuracy and satisfy manufacturing / repairs demand.
o This includes processes such as:
o Parts receiving
o Parts put away
o Manufacturing Order picking
o Customer Order picking
o Furnished Material/Distribution/Transfer picking
o Stock management including cycle counting
o Packing & shipping
o Shop floor consumables management
o Vendor Managed Inventory
Perform root cause analysis related to logistical errors, problems and business process issues.
Lead projects focused on the above, delivering results on time and on budget.
Key User for ERP system; confirm accuracy of pertinent data in the company ERP system. Analyze errors, problems and business process issues and propose improvements.
Develop and document work procedures. Establish and/or oversee training as required.
Perform staffing level analysis and implementation plans that provide adequate support for manufacturing, repairs and shipping needs.
Help ensure compliance with Safran Standards of cycle count accuracy and completeness. Analyze deficiencies, develop improvement plans and facilitate implementation.
Analyze stockroom layout and propose improvements and optimizations considering turnover, size, weight, type and related factors of items stored.
Identify opportunities for process automation.
Align stockroom processes in partnership with continuous improvement initiatives within manufacturing.
Develop key performance indicators and propose appropriate projects and initiatives to meet objectives.
Help ensure compliance with all Federal, State, Local, and company regulations, policies and procedures.
Lead continuous improvement efforts as required.
Confer with Production Managers, Program Managers, buyers and other departments to assess current progress and discuss needed changes.
Communicate department's activities and strategies in conjunction with the direction of leadership.
Assist in other areas of the company, as directed by site leadership.
Travel specifictity
Some travel may be required.
Candidate skills & requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (+5 years without degree of production planning and/or material planning experience Aerospace preferred)
Experience:
10 or more years of experience in warehouse/shipping/receiving operations
5+ years of experience in a Managerial role
Computer Skills:
Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Extensive experience with MRP systems
Other Skills:
Demonstrated expert-level knowledge of materials requirements planning system (MRP/ERP) requirements, purchase order and manufacturing order process, and inventory management practices.
Demonstrated expert-level understanding of Material Management operational concepts surrounding production planning, inventory control, purchasing, stockroom operation and shipping and receiving.
Demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects and assignments with attention to detail.
Lean Six Sigma experience.
Extensive experience with Manufacturing Processes.
Must be organized and possess time management skills as well as the reactivity to adapt to priority changes.
Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment and lead projects required.
Strong communication skills at all levels of the organization, both oral and written as well as strong presentation skills required.
Problem solving, well organized, detailed oriented and accurate.
Self-starter with ability to drive improvement, meet objectives per schedule.
