Job Title: Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer

Work Location/Arrangement: Remote

Summary:

The Business Intelligence Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data models, dashboards, and reporting solutions that provide key insights for decision-making across the bank. The Business Intelligence Engineer works closely with stakeholders across departments to build scalable BI solutions that drive operational efficiencies and enhance customer experience.

  • Develop & Maintain BI Solutions: Build and optimize dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using Tableau and Power BI.
  • Data Modeling & Integration: Design and maintain scalable PostgreSQL data models, ensuring data consistency and accuracy.
  • Cloud Data Management: Utilize AWS services (Redshift, S3, Glue, Lambda, etc.) for ETL processing, data storage, and analytics workflows.
  • Data Extraction & Transformation: Write efficient SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze data from various sources.
  • Collaboration & Strategy: Partner with stakeholders to identify reporting needs, improve data accessibility, and support business initiatives.
  • Automation & Optimization: Develop automated data pipelines and reporting processes to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Governance & Security: Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with banking regulations.
  • Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies in data engineering.
  • Develop and maintain Tableau and Power BI dashboards for executive reporting, operational monitoring, and financial analysis.
  • Automate key banking metrics (loan performance, deposits, risk management, fraud detection, customer insights).
  • Build efficient, scalable data models in PostgreSQL for structured and semi-structured financial data.
  • Develop ETL processes for consolidating transactional, customer, and operational data across bank systems.
  • Maintain AWS-hosted data infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Optimize database queries and improve data retrieval speeds for analytics.
  • Automate regulatory compliance reporting for banking audits and risk assessments.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing structured, auditable data records.

Business Insights & Strategic Recommendations
  • Deliver data-driven insights to support loan underwriting, fraud detection, customer segmentation, and financial forecasting.
  • Partner with finance, operations, and risk management teams to optimize decision-making.
  • Carries out responsibilities with professionalism, respect for others, in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

Required Knowledge/Skills:
  • Strong background in AWS cloud technologies, PostgreSQL databases, and reporting tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
  • 3+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or data engineering roles.
  • Proficiency in AWS cloud services related to data management (e.g., Redshift, S3, Glue, Lambda, Athena).
  • Strong expertise in PostgreSQL databases, including writing complex SQL queries and performance tuning.
  • Experience with Tableau and Power BI for building interactive dashboards and visual reports.
  • Knowledge of ETL/ELT processes and data pipeline development.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with stakeholders and translate data insights into business value.

Preferred:
  • Knowledge of banking or financial services industry data
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Familiarity with version control systems
  • Understanding of Master Data Management principles
  • Familiarity with agile project management tools (Jira, etc.)
