General Purpose of the Position:

Ensure all health, safety, environmental, and quality programs and policies for IGS are adhered to. Responsible for, and actively manages IGS TSNA (Thermal Spray North-America) field services personnel and communications with client while building and maintaining interpersonal relationships. Provides feedback to IGS management team for corporate strategic initiatives related to customer service, safety, quality, project incentives and technical training needs. Supports IGS strategic growth objectives through execution of quality projects that directly impact the scalability and efficacy of IGS. Acts as a company liaison with the project client on all matters related to safety, timeline, identification of additional work and upsell opportunities.

Critical Success Factors:
  • Accountable for ensuring that site operations are conducted in a safe manner and in accordance with all IGS and customer specific safety standards and procedures
  • Acts as the direct interface of IGS with the customer; conduct is of a professional manner at all times
  • Utilizes interface occasions to provide the customer with information regarding IGS' value, differentiation and potential upsell opportunities
  • Networks with customers to identify future opportunities on the current project as well as other projects both within and outside their fleet
  • Ensure profitable project execution through effective planning, efficient use of consumable resources and minimizing waste
  • Understands how losses in efficiency, consumable usage and waste effect gross margin of the project and adversely affect project bonus calculations used to determine individual bonus payments.
  • Manages workflow through Team Leaders to gain both effectiveness and efficiency
  • Ensure Team Leaders are performing their duties effectively and in accordance with the Team Leader job description.
  • Coaches and mentors Team Leaders as necessary
  • Monitors Team Performance to ensure end of project evaluations are completed accurately and fairly by the Team Leaders at the end of the project
  • Expectation is that Project Manager spends approximately 2-hours per day in the work area observing performance and performing spot QC checks first hand
  • Performs all reporting and administrative tasks in an expedient and accurate manner
  • Conduct is professional at all times through personal adherence and coaching of Team Leaders in the use of IGS Values (the IGS Way)


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Planning
  • Reviews quote and estimate with regional sales manager and / or estimator and ensures the sales to operations handoff is complete
  • Generates project plan summarizing schedule of events
  • Plans site layout per customer, work and safety requirements


Project Integration
  • Verifies resource availability and identifies / addresses deficiencies to ensure appropriate levels of personnel are assigned to the project
  • Communicates resource requirements to the Resource Scheduler
  • Manages travel lodging and other personnel logistics as needed or aids Team Leaders assigned to the project in delivery of same
  • Requests project equipment, materials and consumables from internal resource providers
  • Communicates Team schedule & confirms departures and arrivals as needed with assigned Team Leaders
  • Prepares, maintains, and controls project management files and reports for pre and post job work


Customer Communication
  • Confirms schedule and timing with customer
  • Confirms availability of customer supplied support items, and customer expectations of IGS supplied support items
  • Review QCP with client prior to start of any work
  • Obtains required customer's and external inspectors' approvals and signatures, during process stages all the way through the completion of the project
  • Obtains change orders and customer authorizations as needed
  • Communicates project status and progress in accordance with IGS Sales Communications Directives
  • Coordinates final inspection and acceptance by customers' and external inspectors
  • Addresses any issues identified in inspection to ensure all contractual obligations have been met and customer satisfaction has been delivered


Project Execution
  • Manages work to scope of contract
  • Periodically communicates Project Updates to Sales Force as required
  • Ensures delivery of post work Project Survey to client per specific directions
  • Tracks team performance in terms of safety, quality, productivity and alignment with IGS values; requiring enough time in the work / application area to make such assessments accurately and fairly to complete team score cards
  • Receives, controls and secures equipment, materials and consumables on site
  • Ensures equipment specifications and functionality are sufficient to meet the obligations of the contracted work associated with the assigned project
  • Prepares and submits T&M sheets and billing documentation as needed per purchase order
  • Prepares and submits per diem and other cash card requests or assists Team Leaders as needed
  • Approves man hours on weekly timesheets for payroll and helps Team Leaders with completion of timesheets
  • Understand IGS Health & Safety compliance as well as Customer/Project specific compliance to ensure the project is executed in accordance with all related Safety Policies
  • Addresses and corrects any unsafe work environment issues to ensure the safety of IGS personnel, other contractors and client personnel as necessary
  • Monitors other on-site subcontractors to identify and mitigate potential impacts to IGS project safety
  • Monitors and manages on site IGS personnel safety
  • Monitors and controls project costs in accordance with scope of work
  • Ensures proper authorizations obtained for changes to scope of work


Post Job Execution

  • Performs post project materials inventory and communicates results to accounting department
  • Ensures proper handling and disposal of waste at site
  • Reviews and approves all project charges and total job cost
  • Communicates project completion to accounting department and management
  • Performs and submits project safety evaluation
  • Responsible for notifying customer of project survey and encouraging response
  • Performs and submits personnel performance evaluations concurrently with Team Leader and recommends trainings to IGS Operation management required by the project team.
  • Submission of provisionally accepted (by your customer contact) invoice(s) with all necessary backup documentation.
  • Identifies and shares with IGS Operation management and team, any lessons learned from the completed project, and advises on how to apply them for future project improvement and opportunities.


Equipment and Processes Support
  • Understands IGS product and service offerings and how they relate to solving metal wastage problems for customer equipment and processes
  • Performs quality inspections, as needed, of the surface applications; analyzes, and communicates recommended solutions to the client based on results of the data
  • Understands equipment operation and requirements for repair and maintenance and provides guidance and/or assistance as needed to teams.


Sales and Customer Support
  • Supports sales team as needed in estimating, attending pre-bid meetings and inspections
  • Scopes and sells additional project opportunities while on-site
  • Collaborates with other IGS personnel for ongoing customer/account management
  • Provides general assistance regarding corporate, operational and/or administrative matters when not assigned to project work


Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Extensive familiarity with IGS equipment and project operations
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IGS policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of safety, health and environmental regulations
  • Effective reporting and organizational skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of self-sufficiency and initiative
  • Good situational leadership awareness and; understanding when any given situation calls for a directive or a supportive posture
  • Proficient computer software skills including, MS Outlook, MS Word, Excel & Project software
  • Willing to lead and or follow in a Team Based environment
  • Ability to meet customer pre-access requirements such as occupational health examinations, training requirements, drug screens, background searches, etc.

Effort/Working Conditions:
  • High physical effort and high level of physical exertion is required for this position
  • Job is performed in a challenging environment in various client facilities which includes but are not limited to refineries, paper mills and power plants in both the USA and International locations
  • Work is generally performed in a confined space with extreme temperature variations
  • Regular attendance is essential for satisfactory performance in this position, reliability is required
  • Great flexibility is required including the working of overtime to meet seasonal or other peak workload demands
  • Moderate/high degree of danger associated with job


Education and Experience Required:
  • Engineering degree in a work related field preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years' progressive responsibility in project management position required
  • Proven track record in effectively managing small and medium sized projects required
  • Demonstrate situational leadership; understanding when and how much each employee needs direction or support on any given situation
  • Experience with specialized technology based field services operations and environments servicing predominantly the power generation and hydrocarbon processing industries
