Job Summary:
We have started on a Supply Chain Transformation journey focusing on best-in-class process, people, and systems. The RDM (Regional Distribution Manager) is accountable for creating and upholding a level of operational excellence and maturity our competitors aspire to.
IPEX is looking for our next RDM, reporting to the Director of USA Logistics and NA Transportation to provide leadership across several distribution yards and warehouses, delivering the deployment and optimization of SAP EWM, construction and adoption of best-in-class processes to exceed internal and external customer satisfaction, and cultivate a culture of continuous improvement.
We are seeking someone who can build strong working relationships with Procurement, North American Strategic Sourcing, North American Operations, and all corporate functions (i.e. HR, IT, Finance, Sales, etc.) to ensure Distribution operations are tuned to support our customers. The RDM is also in charge of an operating budget, H&S procedures, People development, Compliance with internal policies and overall support of Supply Chain strategic priorities (Merger and Acquisition activities).

Principal Responsibilities:
- Accountable for all aspects of Distribution to ensure that IPEX can properly service its business in a safe and economic manner.
- Scorecard and Report established KPI's to measure productivity, turn around time of orders and transfers, receiving time of incoming material (purchase orders and returns)
- Report monthly financial performance against budget compliance.
- Manage compliance with all H&S programs.
- Coach and develop Distribution Centre Managers (DCM) to reach operational and financial targets.
- Works closely with Customer Service Managers as well as Sales Managers across the company to monitor service levels and address issues on a timely basis.
- Ensure that the DC follows all internal practices such as, but not limited to, the TMS, CT-PAT program, ISMS, company standards, etc.
- Ensure proper training of employees according to internal standards and provincial/state laws and regulations specific to the industry.
- Responsible for Continuous Improvement processes and culture at both the Regional and Local levels.
- High focus on Standardization of roles, forms, etc throughout the Distribution network.
- Actively promotes and participates in Lean principles of Operations.
- Actively involved in the different aspects of Human Resources Management, such as performance appraisals, recruitment, payroll communication, negotiation of collective agreements, annual salary reviews, labour relations, training, and more.
- Ensures corporate Health and Safety as well as environmental requirements are met (i.e. "Volume 1") in collaboration with the Health & Safety - Environment department.
- Reviews SOPs on specific processes unique to Distribution. Make recommendations for improvement or updates as required.
- Reviews accident investigation reports in the region to ensure corrective actions are put in place when needed.
- Works closely with the HS Department to ensure that dangerous goods are stored and handled according to the different legislations in place in Canada and the US.
- Manages the physical aspects of the DCs as well as the assets and inventory.
- Assists with strategic decisions about inventory storage taking into account the different markets, the needs of our customers and the cost of carrying inventory.
- Negotiates service contracts with Logistics companies / public warehouses when variations in inventory requires the temporary addition of storage capacity.
- Interacts with both the Finance and the Accounting Departments.
- Works closely with Finance for the planning of the annual physical inventory. Measures and provides feedback analysis on inventory management.
- Oversee purchases and repairs related to the DC and approve high cost items through the accounting approval process.
- Reviews and makes recommendations during the annual preparation of the company budget
- Is responsible to collect, organise and provide input on the annual CAPEX (Capital Expenditures)
- Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, or related field.
- Lean Six Sigma an asset
- MBA an asset
- 10+ years of experience in distribution or equivalent work experience in Production or Logistics.
- Must have 5 or more years of supervisory experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have broad knowledge of legislations and seeks advice when appropriate.
- Proficient knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
- SAP S/4HANA and Uber Freight TMS experience an asset.
