Director, Artistic Programming & Operations

Longwood Gardens seeks a Director of Artistic Programming & Operations to lead its dynamic performing arts division. This visionary leader will curate and book an engaging lineup of performances while overseeing all strategic and operational aspects of live productions. Responsibilities include:

• Develop and implement a compelling performance schedule that aligns with Longwood Gardens' mission and audience demographics.
• Curate a diverse selection of artists, performances, and experiences to engage a broad audience while maintaining artistic and technical excellence.
• Build relationships with artists, agents, and industry professionals.
• Stay at the forefront of trends in live entertainment, cultural programming, and audience engagement.
• Oversee all production logistics, from contract negotiation to final execution, ensuring seamless and high-quality performances.
• Lead operational planning, including budget management, resource allocation, and adherence to safety regulations and industry best practices.
• Implement efficient operational strategies to maximize performance quality while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
• Lead and develop a high-performing team of artistic and production professionals, fostering a collaborative culture of creativity and excellence.
• Work cross-functionally with internal teams to integrate performing arts into the overall guest experience.
• Develop long-term strategies for audience growth, program expansion, and financial sustainability.
• Represent Longwood Gardens at conferences, industry events, and within the cultural communities

We seek a creative and strategic thinker with a deep passion for the performing arts and a strong track record in artistic programming, entertainment booking, and production leadership. The ideal candidate will possess:

• A degree in Performing Arts or Performing Arts Administration or a minimum of 15 years of experience in artistic programming, entertainment booking, and production leadership of large-scale venues.
• Strong industry connections and knowledge of current performing arts trends.
• Proven business acumen, including budget development, contract negotiation, and operational oversight.
• Proven leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
• Passion for delivering extraordinary guest experiences through live performance.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evening and weekends during scheduled performances, Fireworks and other special events.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and comfort speaking publicly.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize when faced with competing deadlines.
