Position Summary
The Pediatric Endocrinology Section of the Department of Pediatrics at LSU Health Science Center in New Orleans is currently recruiting two Pediatric Endocrinologists MD/DO at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (non-tenure, clinical track) with rank and salary to be determined by the candidate's credentials and experience. The position is open for recruitment immediately.
Responsibilities will include both inpatient and outpatient management of general endocrine and diabetes patients as well as participation in the academic and teaching mission of the section.
The pediatric endocrinology and diabetes program at LSUHSC is the largest in the Gulf South. The new faculty members will join an existing team of 4 full-time board-certified pediatric endocrinologists, 1-part-time obesity specialist M.D., 3 CDE nurse educators, 2 endocrine nurse coordinators, 2 endocrine/diabetes NPs, 1-full time pediatric endocrine nutritionist. The program is also supported by psychologists with expertise in diabetes management. The division has an ACGME-accredited fellowship program with 3 positions.
Primary work location is Children's Hospital of New Orleans which is the largest full-service freestanding hospital for children in Louisiana and the primary pediatric teaching hospital for LSUHSC Pediatrics. Children's Hospital recently completed a $300 million-dollar renovation and expansion. The program also has regional outreach with satellite clinical sites as well as a telehealth program. New Orleans is a wonderful location to live, work, and play. Qualified applicants must have board certification or eligibility in Pediatric Endocrinology and must also be licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana before the start date.
