The Opportunity:
This role will support the Parkland trading team with short-term and long-term market fundamentals analysis and trend identification for crude oil and intermediates markets (VGO, Fuel oil, asphalt, other refinery feedstocks). The role involves building economic models, tracking market trends, and preparing materials to inform trading decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze short-term market trends to provide actionable insights for traders.
- Deliver relevant and timely market data to support decision-making.
- Prepare reports and presentations on market conditions to aid long-term transaction proposals.
- Maintain and update market information databases.
- Automate key market data flows and integrate them into economic models.
- Foster strong relationships both internally and externally.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics , Finance, Economics, Business, or related field.
Re quirements:
- 3+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry or commodity trading, with a focus on crude oil markets considered a plus.
- Proficient in Excel; experience with Python or R is considered a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and identify market trends.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on collaboration.
- Proactive problem-solver with a strong initiative.
- Strong interpersonal skills for engaging across all levels of the organization.
- Adaptable to changing demands and responsibilities.
