Job Description
Job Title: Special Procedures Technologist
Job Specialty: Hybrid OR
Job Duration: 13 Week Assignment
Shift: Mon-Fri 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM or 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (patient schedule dependent)
Guaranteed Hours: 40.00
Experience: 2 years experience as a radiologic technologist or at least one year of experience in Special Procedures/Vascular Interventional Radiology
License: South Carolina Radiation Quality Standard Association (SCRQSA) Radiographer Certification
Certifications: ARRT Radiography (R) Certification, BLS through the American Heart Association
Must-Have: Recent IR/Hybrid OR experience, strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to perform and teach Special Procedures exams

Job Description:

- Perform procedures for direct results of interpretation under the medical supervision of certified radiologists.
- Assist radiologists in procedures and supervise student Radiologic Technologists.
- Maintain good customer relations and frequent personal contact with patients, staff, physicians, student technologists, and employees.
- Ensure the care and safety of patients during imaging procedures using age-appropriate care.
- Obtain correct written orders for procedures and effectively manage time to meet work quality, quantity, and timeliness expectations.
- Contribute to the clinical education of student technologists.
- Use imaging equipment efficiently, minimizing repeat examinations while focusing on cost containment.
- Instruct and prepare patients for imaging procedures and assist in obtaining informed consent.
- Ensure patients understand procedures and communicate discharge instructions to family members.
- Ensure correct orders, diagnosis, and clinical history are entered into the computer system.
- Maintain effective communication with radiologists and present a professional demeanor.
- Adhere to hospital, departmental, and safety policies and procedures.
- Practice good radiation protection and comply with ALARA principles and established guidelines.
- Complete annual mandatory in-services and maintain current licensure requirements.
- Support and promote departmental efforts in achieving established projects and goals.
- Maintain confidentiality of medical and sensitive information.
- Assist other members of the imaging team and other disciplines as needed.
- Demonstrate flexibility and accountability in job duties and take initiative to improve departmental operations.
- Requires a mature individual who projects a professional and business-like appearance.
